Hey guys its me Jack the master of Halloween the Pumpkin King himself. Anyways yesterday was the first tune up for the Macy's Day Parade at Universal and heres the low down. The Parade will feature 7 balloons. The are the two Macy Star Balloons (one will start the parade and one will end the Parade), the Macy's elf, the Pink Happy Hippo, the Toy Soldier, the Fish, and Uncle Sam. The biggest balloon is the fish and requires 15 balloon handlers. Like Madigras park guest can be in the parade as balloon handilers. You must be 18 over 125 pounds, and must be able to hold 10 pounds and walk for 2 miles. But believe me its not heavy or hard at all to handle these things. I was walking around with the fish balloon by only using one hand.

Also the parade will feature many floats like Santas slegh, a big inch worm, the big gator from mardigras, and much much more. Including some funny looking Dr. Suess like cars. Also there will be many stilt walkers and clowns. Also there will be different High School and College Marching Bands every day. Also a float with the Grinch Balloon tied to it that parmered at the Macy parade this year will be there. This parade is huge and starts at the bone yard, goes through hollywood and ends on NY street. The best place to view the parde is in New York next to Kong and the Macy store. This is were lots of Confettie and Snow will be blasted in to the air to make a cool effect.

Also in the bone yard next to twister will be other famous Macy Balloons that are too big for the parade route. These balloons will be Spiderman, Barney, Jimmy Nuetron and others. They will be tied to the ground so you can take pictures with them.

All and all, this looks like a great parade and all of us Universal employees are very excited about it. Anyways the parade starts December 13. Thats this Friday. I hope thats not bad luck. So come on down and enjoy a new tradition at Universal that will stay for years to come.

Thanks for the preview, Jack! I am so looking forward to this parade!

Wonderful info thanks so much for sharing with us. I'm so excited! Can't wait to see it again, and again during our visit.

Any idea what time this parade will run? Does it go all around the studios or just stay in the New York area? How long would you say it is?Thanks!

Cool!! Thanks for that info!! :) I cant wait to get there to see it.

I can't wait to see the parade either, everybody should probably bring raincoats though!!! The weather report, although they tend to be wrong alot, looks like a wet weekend. Does anyone know what time the parade starts? Also, will universal be open later than normal? TIA

Rain or shine, Finnegans will be the best seat in the house!
Then again, can't see the balloons from inside. Rats.

Woody poncho time!

We can't wait...we are coming up from South Florida on Friday, for a long weekend/pre-Christmas break.

Thanks for the preview, now I am even more excited.

Which days will have a Noon Parade?
We'll be there Dec. 31 & Jan 1 and are trying to plan our days & eves. Jan 1 we head back to Disney area for evening. So if Parade is at Noon we'll stick with our original plan of IofA on Dec. 31 and other park Jan 1. If parade is only 5pm we'll switch days.

Thanks if anyone knows!

Cool, I hear Jan 5 is the last parade day.

We'll be in Orlando Jan 2-9, so gotta get that then in before the 5th!

The best seats are either the VIP area (Don't know how you get to sit there) or (The Annual Passholders area) there were media areas right across from Twister, which was a good place to see the parade come out and come back in.

The Annual Passholder section is the best because you can see the parade and then you have a good view of the tree lighting ceremony with Santa at the end of the parade, all other viewing areas you won't see that.....Well you will, but not a good view of it.

Thanks for the detailed information. If the parade was a success this I wonder if they would consider staring it after Thanksgiving like maybe on the 29th??

Maybe, or at least at the beginning of December. I think what it was, was they didn't want to go head-to-head with Disney's Christmas Parade, so as that was wrapping up they begun their parade. When I went it had it's crowd so I think it was a popular event.

So only time will tell. It would make sense to start it earlier.

Well, first of all, it has to be shipped from New York. It takes a while- and was delayed this year, actually.

In the future, it may start earlier in December now that they know what they're doing, but don't count on November for logistical purposes.

We will be down there Dec 7th. It would be nice to see the parade while we are there.
