Macro lens in the parks?

Hi all, I have the opportunity to borrow a macro lens for my Canon 7D for my upcoming trip. Any thoughts on the utility of this? I believe its the 100mm model.

I probably wouldn't use a macro lens at Disney but others use that lens for portraits (super sharp with blurred background) so it could have some benefits

I can't speak for anyone else, but when I'm at Disney, I never have time for macro work. It would be fun to play around, however the family would go crazy. They just barely tolerate what I already do and to add another process, lets just say, it wouldn't be pretty!

I love my macro lens, but would probably leave it behind on a Disney vacation.
It's for capturing super fine detail super close up... As in lady-bug closeup. Unlikely those are the shots you want at Disney World.

Though on the other hand, macro lenses tend to have exceptional image quality, even when not being used for Macro work. Thus, a 100mm macro prime lens, is also useful just as a really solid prime lens -- good for portrait head shots, good for medium telephoto shots. You may find it becomes the sharpest lens in your bag, even when not being used for macro work.

But realistically, for Disney, a 1:4 or 1:5 "macro" feature on a regular lens works just fine for some closeups.

Thanks folks. Thats kinda what I was thinking. The opportunity for a free use of the lens was nice, but not appropriate for this trip.

I also have brought one once and the pictures I took with it are some of my favorites. And since it's also useful as a longer lens it's not completely limited to macro shots. I'd bring it and try something different. It makes you look at things with a different eye.
