Maclaren vs Peg Thread-Search not working

I know there have been several threads about the Pliko vs the Maclaren strollers but I can't get the search to work.

We used a Mac Triumph with our first DS, then went to the Mac Techno Twin when our second DS came along. Now we're ready to go back to a single and we can't decide whether to get the Maclaren Quest or the Peg Pliko 3. Just found out that the 2008 Quest has the extending foot rest like the Techno and is about $100 cheaper. We plan to use this stroller for our next child also and I've always wanted a Peg but I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Mac.

To those of you who have had the Pliko, did you love it? To those that have used both, which did you like better? One reason we were thinking the Pliko was because DS3 can ride on the back.

Any help is appreciated. TIA!

I have a Mac Quest, sold my Mac Techno, Mac Techno Twin and dumped my Zippy (same as Pliko) in the garbage :lmao:

LOVE LOVE my Mac Quest! That stroller simply cannot be destroyed no matter what we do to it! :rotfl: It's been across the country and back and still good as new. The Mac Techno was too heavy once DS reached 18 months, the Mac Techno Twin got too heavy once baby got to 4 months old.

Hated the Zippy way to heavy to push when DS hit one year. I think the Zippy and Pliko are great for when they're newborns - very comfy and plush, just too much extra weight as they get older.

I'd say stick with the Maclarens! ;)

PS After nine strollers and two kids we now have the old Mac Quest, new Bugaboo Cameleon and new for WDW Joovy Ultra light Caboose :goodvibes

I love love loooooveeeee P3s! I (still) have a Mac Quest that we haven't used in forever, but I had 2 Plikos when DD was little and I love them! I took my p3 down to Disney and it was great.

I could never get used to the tippyness of the Mac after owning a p3. I'm still not used to it, but the Mac folds up easily and is easily transportable.

The only thing that sold me on the p3 is the step board for the little kids who want to hop on for a quick ride and the adjustable hands. I'm 4'10. My daughters dad is 6'2. Those adjustable handle rock!

Thanks for the responses! We are so torn because the spot for DS to hop on back of the P3 is so appealing! Is the seat in the P3 big enough to hold a 37 lb 3 1/2 year old if we switch the boys in and out?

Anybody else? I know you all have opinions about this. ;)

I have a stroller corral here at my house ( DD has about 9 strollers- not kidding !). I have had both the Maclaren Techno and the Pliko P3.

I took the words of advice from all the DISers who loved their technos a few years back and just had to have one for our trip to Disney. I ended up hating that darn thing by the time the trip was over. Yes it is easy to fold and light weight but it drove me nuts that it was so tippy and the sun shade was so small. By the end of the trip we had made a trip to WalMart and bought weights for the front two wheels so it didn't tip everytime my son hopped out. I didn't even think it was overloaded to make it tip in the first place. The only thing usually hanging from the back was a skiphop diaper bag with a few diapers, wipes and a sippy cup.

When my DD was born one of the first strollers I bought her was the Peg Perego Pliko P3 - we don't use this as our everyday stroller but it is our main travel stroller to Disney. In fact I love it so much I have 2 in different colors. I love that the sun shade is HUGE - much better than any of the Macs. I can have a skiphop diaperbag and a few shopping bags on the back of this one and it doesn't tip over. It is easy to fold and carry on the bus or throw into the back of a rental car.

My mom now keeps the Mac in the back of her car. I'm not saying it's a bad stroller - just not my first choice as a Disney stroller.

Bumping... we are going to buy a stroller tonight to use on a cruise this weekend and I still don't know what to do...

I have a 2004 Pliko. This was my only stroller for a long time. What I like: Very solid stroller yet relatively lightweight - at least compared to other Pegs (I used this stroller everywhere I went); Great shade; Great recline; It can hold a lot - good storage underneath and can handle a heavy bag (or multiple bags) on the handlebars - NO tipping!; I LOVE having the convenience of the foot board for the older sibling (a lifesaver when I'm on my own and DD 3.5 starts getting lazy...). What I don't like: I never cared for the steering; the buckle is a little strange (not sure if this is still the same in newer models... the shoulder straps attach to the stroller with a little hook... this was always kind of annoying to me since it always slips out of the hook).

I just got my first Mac. I have the Volo so I can't comment on the stroller you're looking at. However, I have to say I LOVE the steering - so much better than the Pliko. This probably has a lot to do with the fact that the Mac is so lightweight. I guess this is probably the tradeoff...Mac: really lightweight and great steering, yet not much storage and "tipping" problem. Pliko: heavier and steering isn't as smooth, yet more storage and no tipping (also great sunshade and foot board!). For me, the Mac is a great addition to my stroller fleet. But, for certain trips (vacations, shopping trips with lots of baggage), I imagine I would miss the Pliko for its foot board and storage.

(My DD 3.5 can fit in the Pliko (best with the tray removed) but she is petite and only 30 pounds.)

I just wanted to respond to this part of your question. I have the pliko P3, and we use it at WDW as well as around town if I am going to the mall by myself. My girls are 3 1/2 and 5, and they both still like to switch back and forth. The 3 1/2 year old is 28 lbs, and the 5 year old is 35 lbs.

I think that if you have any plans to take it on a trip with kids who are 1 & 3, you will have NO REGRETS! It will give your oldest the freedom to walk if he wants to, but to be able to hop on and ride in crowds, when you need to hussle, and when he gets tired.

i have a p3 and love it! my dd (4yo) rides on the back step and my son sits in the seat. i plan on letting them switch off (or let ds ride on my back in an APLX carrier) at DLR. there are other strollers i like better (call me crazy but i love the graco metrolite) but the step in the back makes this the best choice for us when i dont feel like taking the double jogger somewhere.

ive test driven maclarens and my kids always seem squished. and they really seem tippy. i know you can buy a standing board for other strollers, but at disney i would worry about someone taking the board.

We currently have 8 strollers. We have:

1) Quinny Zapp (absolute favorite)
2) Peg P3 in Black Sable
3) Peg P3 in Metallica
4) Maclaren Mod Quest
5) Zooper Zydeco
6) Fisher Price Infant to Toddler (my Bugaboo wannabe until I finally get the real thing LOL)
7) Peg Mystery Stroller (Domani maybe)
8) Chicco 6WD

We used the P3 in Black Sable when DD was 3 months old for WDW and the we used the P3 in Metallica when she was 15 months old for WDW. I preferred the P3 because the sunshade is so nice and it isn't tippy. We actually bought the Quest for her trip at 3 months but then got the P3 and were much happier.

The poor Quest just sits in her bedroom. LOL We never use it. I much prefer the Zapp for indoor things and now the Zooper for outdoor. My DD is now 21 months, 21 pounds, and 31 inches and has never been able to sit well in the Quest. I think it is because of the fabric...ours is very slippery and it causes her to slouch.

For our upcoming trip to WDW when DD will be 26 months old...we plan on selling the 2 P3's and instead buying either a Peg Pliko Lite or a Baby Jogger City Mini. I just want something different and I especially like the Baby Jogger because it has a nice small fold for when it is just me and DD if we split up at night.

I am sooo glad I read this thread. I thought I was the only one that bought another p3 because of the colors. I had an Orange p3 at first, but then i saw the Rose come out and I had to have the Pink p3!!!! :rolleyes1

I'd get the p3, you won't regret it. You can hang pretty much anything and not worry about everything falling over when your passenger hops out for a few minutes. I hated my mac falling over everytime DD got out because it's so tippy.

We took the P3 down in January and I also use it as our everyday stroller. I love it. It doesn't tip, it's got the huge sunshade, and it's comfy for DS. We also purchased another cup holder so that we don't have WWIII over who gets to use it and the rain cover, which came in handy!!

We just bought the Zooper Twist for our trip in May. We chose it over the Mac because it came with everything -- cup holder, winter boot, suncover and rain cover. The only reason we're not using the P3 is that we're flying this time and quite frankly, I don't want to trust my beloved P3 to the gate check! We'll see how the Zooper goes this trip and then make a decision for our December trip...my guess is that I'll want to take the Zooper on the plane again, but have my parents pack the P3 in their car (they're also coming, but driving down).
