Just saw on Good Morning America that there is going to be a recall. Hinges cause fingers to be cut off! They said it would officially be announced tomorrow with the model numbers effected. They said there would be a hinge repair kit offered on the company's website.

Thank you so much for the info! My primary stroller is a Maclaren Twin Triumph. Ordering the repair kit now.

do you have the phone number or e-mail to contact for a repair kit?
Thanks

Thanks I just found the phone number also & ordered the repair kit
1-877-688-2326
was only n hold about 5 min

Bumping up to be sure everyone sees this. I know this is a popular brand on these boards.

I tried all day yesterday to get on the website with no luck. Phone was always busy too.

I got on the website now. They want the strollers VIN. My VIN sticker fell off years ago. I just put down the model name and style name. I hope that's enough info. Who knew strollers had VINS!

Thanks for the website! I just ordered mine and it said they should arrive in 5-7 days. I'm crossing my fingers that they'll arrive before we leave next week!

The recall comes after 15 reports of children placing their fingers in the hinge mechanism of the stroller. Along with these 15 reports, there have also been 12 reports of children amputating the tips of their fingers due to the dangerous stroller.

The strollers involved in the recall are the Maclaren single and double umbrella strollers listed below:

Volo Triumph Quest Sport Quest Mod Techno XT TechnoXLR Twin Triumph Twin Techno Easy Traveller All effected strollers were sold at mass merchandise retailers nationwide between 1999 and November 2009.

As a remedy, Maclaren is offering free hinge covers to better protect children. No matter where you live, you can order them on the Maclaren USA website. Yet as of Monday afternoon, it was difficult to access the site because it was overloaded. "We are working to address the issue," says Charlotte Addison, marketing manager for Maclaren USA. "We didn't anticipate getting the volume that we got today," she says, explaining that since Maclaren had originally planned to announce the recall on Tuesday, the site wasn't ready for the huge traffic. (You can also call 877-688-2326; good luck getting through.) or email: sales@maclarenbaby.com with their name, address, telephone number, stroller model and stroller Vin number.

Maybe a stupid question but I'm trying to figure out how these accidents were occuring - was the child sitting in the stroller and the locking/folding mechanism was activated?

We have had two Maclarens over the years - we still have one for our son. But my husband and I were trying to figure out how the accidents occured as I can't see where a child's finger would get stuck if the stroller was not "unlocked".

Thanks for the info ~ DD's Disney stroller is a Volo ~ which I love, I visited the website and ordered the part ~ the VIN was optional ~ I'm at work so I couldn't check the stroller for it's VIN.

I just wanted to follow up and say that I got the covers yesterday! I ordered last Tuesday and they arrived Monday. Very fast service! The instructions were easy to understand and the covers installed fairly easily.
