I've been told that the readouts aren't totally accurate. I was wondering if anyone else has heard this, or knows of a way to figureout how much is being used?
My pm workout is usually .55 miles 235 cals 72 fat cal 12.30 mins and average speed is 2.7 mph.
Thank you

That sounds about right...I am asuming that you are talking about a treadmill...I use an elliptical and that seems to be about the same speed and miles that I would go. It would take me about that long too.

Here is my .02 on the read outs...Don't take them too seriously. That is not what exercising is all about anyway. The best thing you can do for yourself is to work out for at least 15mins and gradually increase to 30 than to 45...etc. MAKE sure that you are getting your heart rate up. That IMHO is the most important thing. Not your speed or distance. BUT how LONG you can keep your heart rate up.
Good for you for doing it!!!

Sounds like you are getting a pretty good work out, Christy. Concentrate on increasing your time and don't worry about the read outs. I have no idea how accurate they are but you are going to do your workout anyway, right? Regardless of how many calories you may or may not burn? I think it's great that you use your treadmill or whatever everyday.

I like to have a guesstiment (SP?) about miles and cals (just in case I slip) I've tried increasing the time but I end up with cramps in my feet, it's wierd I know. So I'd decided to try am and pm work outs but the am I have trouble dragging myself out of bed. That has to be because I need the sleep, I've never has trouble getting up before, I am a morning person by nature. So today I decided to buy the WATP tapes. I did the 1 mile walk with the belt in 15 mins while the boys were playing. I know this will help. It was fun at first I felt like a fool and the dog was looking at me like I'd lost my mind. Well of to my nightly season with the ellipitcal I'll check back after.

The thing I like best about the one mile WATP is that it only takes about 15 minutes. You had a good workout today.

My thought exactly. Most days I can squeeze in 15 mintues while the boys play in their rooms but if I tried to go upstairs to the elliptical they's come up 15 times. This I can do in the living room. I never realized that it would be such a work out the 12:30 min on the elliptical nearly did me in. I'm going to be sore in the am. I hope the scales will show something on Monday since I'll be visiting the Dr's office. She had wanted me to join curves but I'm phobic about working out in front of others. On a good note I peaked at the scale this am and had lost 2 pounds!!!! yipeeeeee. that leaves 3 more till I'll be at my Jan weight when I was there last. I know those probably wont be gone by Monday but the inches will and she'll have to count those.

I'll give my self a week before I attempt the two mile one. Hopefully by next Wed I'll be able to do the 1 mile one 2xs daily.

Christy...OMG! I know what you mean about the elliptical..(if anyone can teach me how to spell that I would be greatful..lol)

I played ball last night and I was the catcher..ALOT of squatting and up and down...then today I did 30 mins on the elliptical...well if that wasn't good enough..I played ball again tonight...MY legs feel like JELLO!!! I don't think I am even gonig to be able to get downstaris in the AM. I'll let ya know...

Keep me updated on your progress!! You are an inspiration to me!! I know you are at home...trying to figure out how you are going to squeeze in 15 mins of exercise...and I think about that when I am feeling lazy!!

You'll never guess how right you are about even trying to find the time for the 1mile Watp. Weekends are really bad right now. Todays schedule was up at 8 am (OMG I've never slept that late in 5 years. The boys are usually up at 6) But it felt good and I needed it. By 9:15 I was on the road with the F350 dump headed for the grain store. On went 50 bags of shavings 30-40lbs a piece. Stoped at the bread store for the guys home by 11:15. Helped tedder the rest of the field. Feed everyone including me. 1 pm stated moving the hay we did last week back on the wagon and up the elevator (100 bales) then sent the 50 bales of shavings up. Took my mom home she was watching the boys. Spent 30 minutes sitting at the fish pond vegging then home to do my 1 mile Watp made supper as Dh teddered 1 more time. Threw the youngest in the tub spent 10 min sitting with him while he fell asleep while dh supervised the others shower. Did my 12 min on the elliptical and watched a 25 min video with the oldest and put him to bed and here i am. Wow what a day. Guess I'll head for the tub now I'm not sure I'll be moving in the am. One thing I'm glad for is it was only 85 here today.
I'll check back in a little while.

Christy...

I don't know what any of that stuff is that you just said...(sorry I am such a city slicker..lol)...but it sounds INCREDIBILEY PHYSICAL!! That is alot of working out for one day!! That is AWESOME the way you packed you day FULL of activity..(I hope you remembered to eat!!).

I really think it takes aLOT longer to lose "weight" when you are so active...but the results on how your body tones is is amazing.

Hang in there sweetie...you are doing great..!!

I am off to work out soon!!

Hang on your about to become countryfied....
The F350 dump is our 1 ton dump truck think big Ford F350 regular truck with a 9'X9' dump body instead of bed.
The bags of shavings are for bedding for the 4 horses. yes I need my head examined to own 4.
A tedder is a machine with 2-4 (or more) spinning wheels with forks on the ends to "fluff" up the hay so it will dry.
We threw last weeks hay in the downstairs of the barn, to move it upstairs to the hay loft we have an elevator basically like a mall escalatior (sp).

Today we did 250 bales of hay and we have to handle them 2x onto the wagon and then off. The hardest part is stacking them on the wagon while bouncing around the field. A 1st for me Dh actually let me bale and he stacked for 1 lap around the field. It felt weird and so I gave up and went back to stacking. Well needless to say there is no energy left for the elliptical tonight. I dragged my self here to check in (I'll be weighing in tomorrow)and now it's off to lala land.See everyone in the am.
