we're finally jumping the PC ship and moving to Apple.

we were at our Apple store for a looong time today and have decided on the 24" iMac and a MacBook for our daughter. they've got a nice upgrade to the wireless keyboard, mouse, and Airport Extreme to tie them together.

is anybody running either rig and have any views on them?

I'm on a macbook right now and I LOVE it. It's moms though.

I have an Ibook that is turning 3.

My only advice...buy the danged apple care...my ibook just got sent out for a new hard drive! All repairs...FREE!!!

we're going to do the Procare for them. overall, how do you like your mom's Macbook?

My DH and I both have Macbooks. He has the fancy shmancy black one and I have the black white one. We both love them!

My older DD has a 2 yr old Powerbook which she loves.
I have a 1 yr old Powerbook, which I love.
My DH was using a used 4 yr old ibook, which died recently. He got a new Macbook about 2 weeks ago and likes it very much.

I am using my MacBook right now. I love it, but will say bootcamp (the software that allows you to use the Mac as a pc or a Mac) could use some work. It is still in its beta version. So when they tell you, you can run something as a pc it might be a little tricky actually doing so (although for the most part it does work well on pc mode). As a Mac, it works excellent.

we did mess with the bootcamp software today. to be honest, I have no desire to run XP anymore.

AppleCare and ProCare are entirely different animals. I would not own an Apple computer without the AppleCare Protection Plan. The ProCare is nice for in-store service, but it does not entend your hardware coverage or phone support.

See here:
AppleCare Protection Plan

I am on a Mac OSX version 10.4.7 with 2GHz power and 1GB SDRAM

( just copied that from the "about this apple" tab)

we also have the wireless keyboard and mouse. The only downside is the mouse goes through batteries quickly.

Usually what happens when I can't figure out how to do something....is I am trying to make it harder than it is.Most things are as easy as click and drag it where you want it.

Excellent choices!! I'm on the Powerbookg4 (now replaced by macbook pro) and I'm waiting for the new OSX to come out and I will upgrade to the macbook pro.

My bf's friend has the macbook pro and loves it; it's much more powerful than my powerbookg4, which I think it powerful enough.

I want a wireless mouse...mine just runs all around the house eating my cheese!

LOL I really want the wireless keyboard though...I am still on a dumb pc.
Once i have enough money I am going to buy a mac laptop
