does anyone know how much lynx cost if it does cost anything?
also I will be staying at the boardwalk but how do I find a lynx from there because I won't be going into disney until tuesday. Saturday we will go to universal as well as sunday and monday so I need transportation to and from universal and disney. We are trying not to spend to much money so we are trying to avoid renting a car if at all possible.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!

We have used LYNX several times while going to and from Disney.
The cost right now is $1.50 per ride with free transfers good for I think 90 minutes.

Here is the website: http://www.golynx.com/

The LYNX bus stops are at the Ticket and Transportation Center. If you face the parking lot there next to the information booth, you will follow the sidewalk around to the right. The public bus stops are on the end.

If you call LYNX or email them, they will tell you what bus numbers to use and what schedules the buses run.

you're going to spend a LOT of time going between universal and disney if you try the lynx. plus are you planning on taking your luggage?

i may be exaggerating, but i have to advise against doing this. unless you're really used to taking mass transit, the lynx is not a place to be saving money when it involves transfers. orlando's transit system fills a very specific need and it's not those of tourists.

you'd have to pick up the #40 at universal, take it to n garland ave and transfer to the #50 which will go to the TTC.

the #40 operates every hour at the most, the #50, every half hour. the whole thing could take up to 90 mins or so (just guessing on that as a worst case). orlando does have a significant crime rate, so avoid odd hours, and i don't know how disney transportation at the TTC will respond to your luggage.

And bradk's times don't even take into account getting between the Boardwalk and the TTC. You'd have to take a bus from the Boardwalk to the Magic Kingdom, then the monorail or ferry to the Ticket & Transportation Center. Figure another half hour, at least, not counting waiting time.

While we can understand needing to budget money, you're going to spend upwards of four hours a day just getting from your hotel to Universal and back.

Would you consider changing your plans so that you're staying at a hotel closer to Universal for your first three nights? Lots of area hotels have free shuttles to the parks.

You have gotten very good advice here. I have taken the Lynx bus from TTC to SeaWorld and it worked very well. But, I never recommend that people take it to Universal. It's just very convoluted. It shouldn't be looked upon as a 'shuttle' to get easy access from WDW to Universal....it's just too darn time consuming.
You really are better off staying as close as possible to whichever park you will be at and use their shuttles. Or cut back on attending different parks and stay in one for the majority of your time....then take a cab or a towncar for about $65 roundtrip.

  • Free Disney Transport bus from Boardwalk to Magic Kingdom.
  • Free Disney Transport monorail or boat from Magic Kingdom to Ticket & Transportation Center.
  • Lynx bus (not free, not part of Disney, a public transit bus) to a transfer point.
  • another Lynx bus to Universal.
I would find ANY way to avoid doing all this. This looks like a scavenger hunt, not a honeymoon.

In a worst case scenario (having to wait nearly the maximum time for each mode of transportation) ... you could wait 15 minutes for the bus to Magic Kingdom, and then another 15 minutes for the ride itself. Then you could wait 10 minutes for a monorail, then 5 minutes for the trip to TTC. Then you could wait 50 minutes for the #50 bus (coincidence!), then I have no idea how long for that ride ... 20 minutes??? Then you could wait 25 minutes for the #40 bus, then I have no idea how long for that ride, either ... 15 minutes???

So, adding it all up, it could take you 2 hours and 35 minutes ONE WAY to get to Universal from Boardwalk, so then of course that could mean up to 2 hours 35 minutes to get back. You could be on transportation for 5 hours each day. YUCK!

Now that you have this information, your choices are to stay a few days at a non-Disney hotel close to Universal, or to rent a car. I fear that if your budget is so tight that you can't afford a rental car (if cost is the issue), then, I hate to say it, you are over-reaching in your choice of honeymoon. Perhaps it would be prudent to look at staying at a less expensive Disney resort, such as a resort in the Moderate class. Or staying at Boardwalk for one less day.

Or cutting out Universal will save a lot of money, too. Once you get past a 4-day ticket, additional days in Disney parks costs only about $2 a day!!!

You have some big decisions to make. Getting from Boardwalk to Universal for little or no money will take an excruciatingly long time in each direction.

Seriously, if the cost of renting a car is beyond your reach, then I humbly suggest re-evaluating your travel plans. Sorry.:confused3

THANK YOU SO MUCH
I think we will go on ahead and rent a car.
The thing was we weren't really planning on having a honeymoon so soon we were going to wait a while and go on our 1 year anniversary but my sister, brother-in-law and mother got us the hotel stay, plane tickets, and dining plan thing, so the only thing we have to pay for was the park tickets and that alone cost ALOT.
But, I think we are going to just cut a day off of disney.
THANKS ALOT EVERYONE FOR GREAT ADVICE I REALLY APPRECIATE IT.

:scared1: cut a day off WDW???? Sacrilege, heresy!!!! What are you thinking????:lmao: Okay.....I'm done. Just kidding. I think that renting a car is the best idea in your case. I can completely understand the whole 'not planning on a honeymoon so soon' thing. My ds just got married a year early, so had to sacrifice a lot of things they had wanted in a wedding. Hope your wedding is wonderful and your honeymoon even better!!:wizard:
