Lynx bus?

Sorry for all the questions lately, my first trip and it is getting closer.

Anyway we are planing to go to sea world and after doing some searching I have found the bus is the cheapest option, and it seems simple?
Has anyone got the bus to sea world? is is relatively stress free? or would we be better paying the extra and getting the Mears shuttle?

We are staying at Port Orleans and none of us can drive so a car is not an option.

We have taken the Lynx bus to Seaworld and it is stress free - take the Port Orleans bus to MK and head for the TTC - best way is take the resort monorail.

I think it's the number 50 bus and it's clearly signposted at the TTC with a pink pawprint - and of course it says the bus number and where it's going on the sign. When you get off the monorail, bear left and turn a sharp left by the gift shop to get to the stop you need.

The cost is something like $1.25 one way and Seaworld is the first stop - short journey as well. You get off the bus and have to cross the Seaworld car park. Get on the bus coming back in the same place across the road.

we are going to seaworld too. when we are done at seaworld and we have to cross the street are there traffic lights to guide us across?

Sorry can't remember but it didn't seem that busy a stretch of road anyway - nothing to worry about.

on the way in the bus stops on the right side of the road, then just a short walk accross the car park and you will arrive at the entrance! on the way home there is a zebra crossing and you can stop half way, although the road is very quiet. Also for your feet... there are 2 benches to sit on whilst waiting for the bus.

I had posted this on WDW magic (as well as various other destinations by bus!)

SEA WORLD
Sea World was pretty easy, I asked a guy at the TTC and he gave me a schedule and told me to get on the Lynx bus and that stops right opposite Sea World. We ended up doing this trip twice, once for SeaWorld and once for Discover Cove. (see below)

You just need to cross the road and walk through SeaWorld's car park. Really easy and it was only about $1.50 a trip. I don't think we could buy a return for some reason so I think we had to buy a single each time we rode.

Hi Wideeyes

Sorry to butt in on your thread but just wanted to say that I've been to Orlando twice (always staying on IDrive though) and although I can drive I never have. You can get around no problem with the Lynx buses or the IRide trolley buses and as people have said there is a Lynx stop right outside Seaworld. IRide trolleys also go into the Seaworld car park and take you North or South onto IDrive. I know you are staying in a Disney hotel but I thought this might be useful information for you.

I haven't been to seaworld on the bus, but my sis and I went to the florida mall on a Lynx bus. They are really easy to use, although it seems hard to get a timetable anywhere other than on a bus itself! LOL! We will be taking the bus next time we go.

Was it easy getting to the Florida mall?

We stayed at POR in 2005 (before Dis!) and we got the mears shuttle (didn't know any better ) and we did feel ripped off, it was quite expensive and we had to phone an hour before we wanted to leave, on the return journey we then had to go via other hotels to drop people off so I wouldn't recommend it!

Was it easy getting to the Florida mall?

We went to the Florida Mall when we weren't staying on-site, so can't tell you the details from WDW. We had to change buses, but we changed at another shopping centre so that was no problem... just had a look around while waiting for the next bus. I do remember that it was quite a long way.

Interestingly when we did it (ok it was 2003) you pay for a bus ticket and that is valid for anywhere on that bus - and then also valid on any other Lynx bus up to about 2hrs from when it was first issued (not sure if that makes sense) so we only paid for 1 ticket each way, even though we went on two buses.

In 2003 the bus route to the Florida Mall that we used was the 42 (I am so sad I have the timetable sitting here in front of me). This went from the Orlando Premium Outlets.

If you want to try it, I would suggest visiting the Ticket and Transportation center at MK and either seeing if they have timetables, or hopping on a bus - just to get some timetables. They used to keep a supply of them on the bus.

Hi there... I went to the Golynx website mentioned by meryll83 and managed to find maps... but it seems pretty complex, and although Imanaged to find the street names etc to put into the route planner part of the site, so far have not managed to come up with a route - it keeps on timing out.

If you want to try it for yourself try entering: Start Address

as your start point, and :

as your finishing point.

It also seems that the numbers 4, 7, 37, 42, 43 and 52 all go to the Florida Mall.

I'm definately going to try visiting by bus next time I go. Back in 03 it was $1.25 for a single ride with a transfer which is valid for 90 mins. So that $1.25 (although I guess it's gone up a bit) would have got you all the way there!

Thanks Brightspark, I had a look at the site too and it is pretty confusing so thanks! I think the fare is now $1.50 for a single or $3 for an all day ticket so great value
