I was staying offsite a few years ago and I was able to take Lyft to the Contemporary and then walk to the MK, but last year, I wasn't allowed into the Contemporary because I didn't have a restaurant reservation. Would taking a rideshare to the Polynesian or Grand Floridian be any easier, or is the only sure thing the TTC for rideshare dropoff?

The only sure thing is the TTC, which is the designated dropoff spot for rideshare for MK. Sometimes the Poly/GF guards aren't as strict as the ones at CR, but it's difficult to predict, and IMHO not worth worrying about. I'd just plan to be dropped off at TTC.

There is no 100% reliable answer on this, first, it's not permitted by Disney and second, security may not allow the ride share to drop you off. You're correct that being dropped at TTC is the only reliable method for getting to MK.

Sounds good, thank you.

This helps. Was also wondering about this strategy. Staying at CSR, feel like it’s safest to do rideshare to TTC (not sure I want to take bus in the morning to MK?)

What is your actual destination? If MK, I’d take the bus in order to be dropped off at the MK bus station - from TTC you have to take monorail or ferry to get to MK. We usually have a car, and MK is the one park we take the bus to, unless we need the car to go offsite before or after MK.

Actual destination is MK. Also trying to rope drop so yeah maybe bus is best option? Just not sure how busy they get first thing in the morning.

The bus will always be the best way to get to MK, unless you’re at a MK area resort and can take the resort monorail or boat. Otherwise, you end up at the TTC and have to take the monorail or ferry over to the park.

but remember it is along walk around to get from TTC like plus 30 minutes. you walk past Poly and Grand Floridian and then on around to MK. and trying to make rope drop add the time for monorail or ferry. plus parking lots are not open as early as buses start from what I read

As above, bus is best! For early morning hours, the standard recommendation is to be at the bus stop 90 minutes before early morning starts, so you can catch the first bus and be near the front of the rope drop crowds.

Wow ok. Good to know. I’ll be sure to get there early

Ride shares are usually turned away at the gates unless related to a dining reservation.

When a ride share is at the guard booth and turned away, do they back up into the street? Do they go in and turnaround and everyone could jump out? Is there a sidewalk there next to the street?
What would happen if they passed the Contemporary and kept driving down that street?
I'm DVC and stay onsite but just honestly asking.
Thanks.

They are not let in, they turn around in front of the gate. The road in front of the gates aren't super narrow that I've seen. As for anything else, I've never noticed anyone doing anything else other than just accepting the answer and turning around.

There is nowhere else to drop off down the street; you’re almost immediately on a restricted backstage road.

The guard house for each resort entrance is generally off the main road, and there's generally an area to make a U-turn behind the guard house. In some places I guess passengers could jump out of the car, but it's really not safe for them to do so. I would imagine the rideshare driver might get in trouble, too, so I can't imagine them wanting their passengers to jump out like that. And if you look at a satellite map of CR, you'll see that there's no safe place for a car to pull over if it continues northbound on World Drive past the CR entrance.
