Thinking of getting a 'luxury van' vs limo for port transfer to accommodate luggage for 7 people. Any of them (vans?) have TV's (a must w/kids)? Who to use? Also, need website for Southern Elegance and any others you may recommend.

We put six people plus a ridiculous amount of luggage (15 bags, I think) in a limo last month. All of the luggage was stowed, although a couple backpacks rode up in front with the driver.

We used FL Tours (http://www.fltours.com) and everything went just perfectly. We're taking another cruise next year, and we don't plan to do anything differently.

What kind of Limo was it? I just checked out FL Tours site and it only says luxury van for the 6 of us. Thanks.

We used FLTours in October for 6 Adults and 1 child in a booster. They picked us up in a 15 passenger van that did have a DVD player, although it was hard to hear. All the luggage rode in a trailer towed behind the van.

It was a white stretch limo. Very cool. They show it on their Fleet Page, but not on the rates page. It cost us $450, plus a 20% gratuity which is automatically added on. We had three trips, though: airport to the ship, ship to Boardwalk, and Boardwalk to airport.

The owner is a former Disney CM, and was great to work with.

Correction to my post: It was $350 plus 20%, for a total of $420. That was for three limo trips.

Jimbo,

We sail on the Wonder next week and will use FL Tours for a similar sea/land package as you did. How was your payment handled? We are ready to give them the $350 in cashiers check but were going to tip them the 20 percent in cash. Were you handed an invoice for the $420? It's been kind of tricky for us to figure the payment out when we can't use check or credit card. Please advise.

What type of perks can we look forward to? Did you watch DVD in the limo? Stop at grocery?

Thanks for any insight!

We just took all cash. You pay the driver at the end of the first leg, which for us was the cruise, so it's not like you need to carry it around for very long. The driver gave us an invoice and a receipt at the port.

As far as perks... The driver was waiting for us at baggage claim holding a sign with our names on it. Not a hand written sign either, a nice professional one. In our world that's a perk. :D

The limo had a DVD changer loaded with a bunch of Disney movies, 10 or so. There were two TVs, too. Plus there was a bar with a little built in cooler with soda and bottled water on ice. My 10YO granddaughter drank a soda in one of the fancy bar glasses. The drinks are included, BTW. We had a grocery stop scheduled on the way to our hotel after the cruise, but decided to skip it.

One thing you may not know is that you're not guaranteed to have the same driver for each leg. For the middle leg we had a different driver and limo, but he was every bit as courteous as the other guy. Both limos were spotless.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Jimbo! It does help to know a little more of what to expect. Limos are not of our world. We had not planned to take cash to pay for limo -- just scared we might lose it. Just want to clarify......So the invoice you got at the end of first leg was for a total of $420? We thought it would be just the $350. Thought I read on FL Tours website that grutuity was not added. Thanks much.

No, you pay in full (including tip) when you get dropped off at the end of your first leg.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the ride. I know that our grandkids were so overwhelmed by being in a limo that they were practically hyper ventilating. And the whole FL Tours experience was very satisfying.

Thanks for the input everyone! I think after checking into this further and being assured that all our bodies and luggage could be accommodated, we're going with a stretch. It really helps get you into that vacation mode anyhow no matter the expense.
