I have been trying to get through all of these posts. I think I am on page 60 or so. Anyways, we are thinking of S/D for a trip this April I know, busiest time of year etc. Do they offer the teacher/nurse discount at that time of year(we have 1 of each)? Also, is either the Swan or Dolphin better for kids. I thought I had read some where that one was better than the other. Thanks for all of your great info and hopefully I'll get through all the pages before our trip.

I don't know the answer, but try editing the title of your post to say something like....S/D Question...someone will know.

Go to the S/D question thread and you will get a ton of answers. From what I have read, they say that the Dolphin is more 'kid oriented' than the Swan. It is larger and more 'whimsical' in decor. The Swan is smaller and quieter and more laid back. (which is why I chose it) Haven't been there yet, but also have the teacher rate. You have to call the hotel directly and ask about your dates. Not sure if they know yet for April, but they will tell you. Be sure to ask when they will know so you can call back.

Laurie, yes they do offer the discounts you mentioned for that timeframe however if your looking for a kid friendly place then i say there are plenty better...my family and i have been to WDW over 15 times with our last stay being at the Swan...while it wasn't bad (how bad can it be at WDW?) it wasn't what we had become accustomed to at the Disney resorts (fyi, S & D are not owned by Disney)....it was more of a convention type place, lots of suits/laptops/cell phones & business types...my kids who are now 14 & 12 will never go back...they've been to PO, Dixie, all the All Stars, Poly, Yacht Club, Beach Club and the Carribean Beach resort...they're Disney spoiled...their list of "not disney enough" issues ranged from: lack of a good food court (they thought Tubby's felt like a basement and so did i). inadequate greenery/landscaping. 1 disney channel compared to 4 or 5 at the disney resorts, boring pool (which by the way was a decent walk from the Swan), no Disney soaps in the room, etc. etc....My wife had 2 issues: there was no laundry (she had to walk to the Dolphin to do that) and she couldn't get past the $4.00 a pop Snapple's (she has no problem spending but feels this was a huge rip off).....As i re-read this it sounds like a S & D bashing which is not my intention however my 2 sister's & their hubbies and six kids as well as my mom (we travel in packs) all felt the same...bottom line, all 8 kids did not feel the Disney magic there so if that's what your looking for then my suggestion would be to skip both and book a Disney resort room...good luck and hope you have a good time wherever you decide to stay...
