Please tell how it was... I'm always looking for something special to do on my vacations!!!

I did not do the Lunch w/ Imagineer BUT I did give it to my son's fiancee as a gift and she loved it. She said the food was great and the time with the Imagineer was very interesting...she's an art major which I'm sure added to her interest....she also came back with the signed plate which she put on display at her home.

I'm especially interested in anyone who has done this with their DK. I think my 13yo DD would love it!

For anyone who has done it, please also post what type of Imagineer you dined with. I would guess that there are quite a number of different Imagineer jobs out there.

TIA

We did this Aug.21, and it was great ! My DS (15) is a Disney fanactic, and he is already looking at internships and colleges to help him become an Imagineer. There were 4 of us at lunch (me, DW, DS, and DD 10), along with another couple with a college age daughter ( and who had done the lunch or the dinner numerous times), and another single college young lady, for a total of 8, plus the Imagineer. Our Imagineer was Kevin James, whose name tag stated that he was a senior graphic designer. Very nice guy. Started off the lunch by asking each one of us a Disney related question ! The whole experience was great, very informative, casual, and fun. We had thought that our DD might be too young to really get much out of it, but when she got to school she told her friends that it was one of her favorite things at Disney ! This will be part of our regular things to do when we go to Disney. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions. Have a great trip !! :thumbsup2

I believe that you need to be 14 to do the lunch - I also heard that there is a dinner with an imagineer at Artist Point at WL???

It's more expensive though - tough choice...

Anyone know the dress code? Just park dress ok?

Yes, park casual is fine.
We had Kevin, too. He's great.

The food is fabulous; yes, it's expensive, but you get unrushed time with an Imagineer, a great multi-course meal, a signed plate, and a personalized name tag. I think that the menu is framed or something, too.

We had a choice of entree--steak or fish, I think.

The food was beautifully presented--the Cobb salad was to DIE for! The steak was arranged on some mashed potatoes? with onion rings arranged on top. The creme brulee for dessert was fabulous! I felt completely spoiled!

The kids can get Shirley Temples, too.

Overall, a nice relaxing, informative meal.

At the Brown Derby, at least, I don't think that 14 is the age limit. Just this past June, my son attended and he was only 10. (He loved it, by the way.)

The Dining with an Imagineer is a very special event. First of all you do not get to select an Imagineer. You will not even know until you arrive for your reservation who it will be. I know because I phoned a couple days in advance to see if we could be told who was scheduled. But it will be someone who is personable and who is at ease speaking with the public.

When you make your ADR you will need to give the spelling of the name of each person in your party.**

Our wonderful Imagineer was Kevin Thomas on May 18, 2007. Kevin is a Senior Graphic Designer. You will be escorted from the Brown Derby's reservation desk to the Bamboo Room by your waiter. The room is quiet, understated in decor and holds no more than 15 people I'd say. You will be presented with your pre-printed personalized menus **. You select your courses from the menu. The food was fabulous. The service was quite good because it is a small group of you in the room.

Kevin was so knowledgeable and a great host. He asked each of us to introduce ourselves and tell him our favorite Disney memory. He set the tone for a lively, pleasant and enjoyable conversation. He answered so many of our questions and told us of his many projects he was involved in. We all sat around the table and ate together and just had a great time. We were not rushed at all.

You each are presented at the begining of the event with a cool personalized name tag that reads "I dined with an Imagineer" **. At the end of the meal, you will either be presented with a personalized souvineer plate**, or in our case, it will be mailed later to your home. (The new plates were on back order).

Everyone in my party was intrigued with the entire event. We were made to feel like a real 'part of the magic". I hope you make this event part of your plans. I hope you get to meet Kevin or someone as neat as he is.

My DW and I want to do this in May 2008. I hoping we can get the ADR for it.:cloud9: I have been racking my brains trying to think of a question to ask. I have so many little ones but trying to think of a big question for the Imagineer. I`m sure they are ask when the new park is coming who is the new character is going to be?

Ok... my favorite memory... ok, maybe not MINE... but my family, well, really, my mom always reminds me on how we first came to MK in '72 - (I was 8) and she carried around my sweater all day and when it got cold I was the only one with the sweater and she froze!!! (but she still loves me and I still take her to WDW!!!)

Was the Grapefruit cake on the menu?

And I talked to Disney Dining today to make my other ADR's and they said ressies can be made 60 days out and even told me the date to call back...
