If you are in California Adventure, I recommend Whitewater Snacks (in the Grand Californian, but you can leave DCA throught the hotel exit near the Grizzly River Rapids ride and come back in the park that way too....its very close). It is very popular on these boards, and after going for the first time a couple of years ago, I definitely see why! DH and I were able to split the chicken sandwhich + fries, and my kids split a kids meal. We thought it was fairly reasonable (due to splitting) and loved that it got us away from the hustle and bustle of the parks. It has always been nearly empty when we have gone there. Have a great trip!

Love River Belle Terrace carvers...and I find the kid meal plenty for me..espcially if you have a big dinner planned.

We have a few favorite standbys, some already mentioned on this thread. We like Rancho Del Zocalo for Mexican food -- the salads are great. Red Rocket's Pizza Port has some decent pasta. If you want a little more, you can sit down at Carnation Cafe or Cafe Orleans, both are very good, not super cheap but moderate prices. I think this time we might try the new Troubador Tavern, supposed to have great loaded baked potatoes.

In DCA, we like Taste Pilot's Grill for burgers, and Whitewater Snacks in the GC is good too. :thumbsup2

Carnation Cafe for my first choice.

Rancho del Zocalo and Pizza Port also.

Cafe Orleans is a favorite too, but a little more expensive.

Carnation Cafe or Wine Country Trattoria for relatively inexpensive sit-down restaurants

CS at DL I would pick Riverbelle Terrace (sandwiches are pricey but can be split) or Troubadour Tavern (a new favorite!) has great baked pototoes

Taste Pilot's Grill for CS at DCA - we like the ribs (we split the bigger rib plate) and the full throttle fries but we thought the burgers were just regular theme park type burgers and weren't impressed.

Here's the link to the menus at allears.net if you want to look at all the choices: http://allears.net/dlr/din/menu/menus.htm#dl

Glad to hear the Troubadour Tavern is good! :thumbsup2 Isn't the Trattoria in DCA closed for renovations? We like Taste Pilots because they do blue cheese burgers, which are very tasty...and they have a topping bar with lots of choices.

You're right it is. I'm not sure when it will be open again. Hopefully soon because i want to go there in a few weeks!

We love Carnation Cafe especially for the little ones. They offer a Peanut Butter Pallette which keeps them thoroughly entertained throughout the meal. Last trip, Oscar delivered them to the kiddos and wanted to show them how the assemble, it was so cute. DD4 was very polite, but as soon as he left, she said, "Mom, doesn't he know that I know how to do this by myself?" What kid doesn't like to put marshmallows on their sandwich?

Other than this meal I find both DD's rather just graze than stop and eat a full meal. So I usually grab a power pack for the girls and then DH & I like to go to the Cove Bar for Lobster Nachos..yummy!

If you still haven't picked yet, here are my top choices:

#1 Cafe Orleans - yummy gumbo, pomme frites and salmon salad. A lot of people love their Monte Cristo (deep fried ham and cheese sandwich with powdered sugar) but I am not a big fan of it. The entrees at Cafe Orleans are around $15 each but the gumbo and pomme frites are about $5 each. DBF and I usually share the gumbo, fries and salad and total is about $30 including tip
#2 Carnation Cafe - loaded baked potato soup and sandwiches are decent as well (most items less than $10)
#3 White Water Snacks for their nachos...they are huge and plenty big for 2 people (most things are around $8)
#4 Pacific Wharf Cafe - delicious clam chowder, corn chowder and chicken apple salads in bread bowls...again, plenty of food for 2 ($10 each)
#5 Taste Pilot's Grill - pretty decent burgers...love the sides bar that they have. They supposedly have pretty good BBQ as well but I have yet to try it (burgers were around $8, I think?)

The Plaza Inn also has pretty good fried chicken but I think that is the only thing that people really like that.
