Anyone have a preference which meal to have at 50's Prime Time Cafe? Is there a better chance of a more entertaining meal at one time over another?

The tip you normally get about dining in WDW is that you can get dinner sized meals, for lunch prices if you have a late lunch. I understand that- but don't do it! The way we see it- we'd rather either have a late character breakfast & skip lunch all together, or have breakfast & a lite lunch along the way rather than a sit down meal. Our reasons are these:
A- there's just too much to do in WDW to sit down & have lunch we feel like we're wasting time & we were there for 2 weeks the last time but we still felt we were being cheated!
B- not many people can eat three sit down meals a day & it's easier to skip lunch than it is dinner, as you will probably get hungry later any how.
C- I could never eat the kind of meal that they give you for lunch & then get up & walk around for a few more hours! It's too much food! Lunch to me is a sandwich & a snack-- not a huge portion of fried chicken with tons of mashed potatoes & veggies to boot!
D- it would be sacreligous not to order dessert & who wouldn't feel like a pig scarfing down a huge plate of smores at one o'clock in the afternoon!
E- it's easier to sit & enjoy your dinner & have appetizers & take your time in the evening you don't feel like you have to get out & do stuff.

Ok well I think I've gone far enough.. I'm not too opinionated am I? (Just to let you in on a little secret... we went for dinner and we liked it so much that we went against our policy & went for lunch another day & ordered TWO orders of smores:eek: ... I bet they're still talking about that strange girl with the audacity to order smores in the afternoon & let me add that I am going to school to be a pasrty chef so desserts are my life & the souffles-- baked apple crisps, and other pies & cakes throughout WDW don't even come CLOSE to those damn smores.... man they're good!!!) Have FUN!!! (& smores):D

I do have p.s. arrangements for dinner, actually, just because of the way it worked into my tentative schedule. I have been there for lunch last year and MANY years ago for dinner and we have never had the s'mores. I will definitely make sure my family tries them after your review!

I was just wondering if the cast members were better at one meal time versus the other, or if just hit or miss.

The first time we went, years ago, our server was trying to do a great job (asking if we washed our hands before dinner and then quizzing us on the color and type of soap that was in the bathroom when we actually lied and told him we had), but my DD was 2 at the time and was terrified at the guy for giving us so much crazy attention that he finally had to back off.

Last time we ate lunch and we had a great guy (Anass--my DS14 was trying to keep a straight face just wondering how to pronounce his name) and we have great pictures of him feeding my DS12 his spaghetti that he couldn't finish and making the room full of people around us act like airplanes.

We are taking a guest who hasn't eaten there this next trip and I'm hoping we get the full treatment!

Not that I want to support the lunch theory.....:D But when we went for lunch we enjoyed our waitress more. Our dinner waitress (introduced as our cousin) was nice, NOTHING was wrong with her-- but I think she thought that since we were a young couple we wouldnt want her to go over the top-- which we did!! So although she was nice- it was more a friendly basis than the authorative figure they usually are. Our luch waitress was a little wierd-- one of those people who looks through you when you talk!! I swear if we moved tables she wouldnt have noticed... it was all a routine with her but it was a well perfected & HYSTERICAL routine!! So.... I don't know if it was because the place wasn't full, becuase the dinner waitress spent more time with us- but the lunch lady was sooo great- she was my BFs mom & tickled pink that he finally brought his girl home to meet his mother!! It was great-- I think it depends on the waiter/waitress. Have fun I'm sure you will!! (DONT FORGET THE SMORES!!!!!!:D )

I think it really depends on the server, not the time. We brought my inlaws there and didn't 'warn' them about the antics. They loved it, I think the servers are considerate of how far to go. Our server fed my father in law green beans, the kids LOVED seeing Papa have to eat his vegetables, and Grandma couldn't keep her elbows off the table so she had to sing "I'm a little teapot" with the lady at the next table. Fun no matter what!

We ate there on Mother's Day for lunch. We had a 10 min. wait without PS at noontime! Our waitress (cousin) was very low-key, but that was perfect for our 4 year old daughter. The waiter at the next table was very loud and rambunctious, much more lively than our waitress. I think if we had that waiter, my dd would have been scared! LOL! I think it's the luck of the draw there...you could get anyone at either lunch or dinner. I think it depends on how the meal fits into your schedule! Have fun!!! : )

You all are probably right about our luck with the server. I'm still trying to plan alternative schedules, so I have one seating for dinner and one with lunch, so we'll see what happens.

We've done lunch there and it was VERY entertaining. Food portions were large. So much so that I didn't clean my plate - thus not getting the "Clean Plate Club" sticker like DD and DH.:D

I have to totally agree about the s'mores! I love those things!

We have eaten there during lunch twice and when we did have dinner, we went at 3:30 pm, and had a choice of menus.

The portions at dinner are increased, as is the price. We had a great time, all 3 times, though.
