Can't decide if I should make lunch or dinner reservations for Finnegan's (Tuesday) and Mythos (Wednesday).

We have park hopper and will be at Universal for 2 days. This will be our first time and probably want to spent most of our time at HP lands.

What do you all think? Lunch or dinner?

both places have the same lunch/dinner menus.
no change in the fare for either time period you choose.

Finnegans opens around noon and closes at regular hours.

Mythos takes the last seating usually around 3:30 pm.
They do not stay open in the evening.
Some days they close at 5:00 ish but it can vary.

Will depend on the date you are there if hours will be extended.
Usually don't see long hours unless it is during longer park days.

Reservations will be helpful if you are going during a high attendance period.
If i would make a reservation for Mythos, it is usually the morning of or the day prior.

When is your trip?
Is it coming up soon?

Is it April you are going Alice?

You probably won't need any reservation for Finnegans, Mythos as Mac says you can make in the same day if you feel you need to. Menus are the same for lunch and dinner.

If you're concentrating on Potter do you not want to eat in one of those restaurants? Although both places are close to Potter in both parks..........

We will be going on April 12 and 13. We chose Mythos for 13th since its my birthday and thought it'll be nice to have sit down lunch or dinner because our 5 days at WDW is all QS.

Depending on whether we have lunch or dinner at Finnegan's and Mythos, other meals will be at 3 Broomsticks and Leaky Cauldron.

At first I thought of lunch but then I begin to worry if we can make it on time since we want to do rides in HP lands first before rides get busy.

So now I can't decide if we should do lunch or dinner and what time.

Would probably choose Mythos for lunch as it won't be open too late I assume at that time of year, doesn't open that late anyway.

I'd do lunch because it'll be a nice break from the crowds. By dinner time, you might be reluctant to dine when you could ride. Also, I don't know if I'd really want to do 2 longer meals though if I only had 2 days- the parks would be beckoning.

Leaky Cauldron (and maybe 3Bs too - didn't eat there so I don't know) is quick service like Be Our Guest is quick service - you order at a counter but are shown to a table and your food is delivered. I would do a later lunch at Leaky Cauldron on one day (grab snacks mid-morning and do lunch at the height of afternoon crowds - 1:30 or 2?) and a lunch at Mythos around the same time the other day. On the 13th you'll have until 8:30 pm in Universal Studios so I would make that the day you do Mythos for lunch and plan to do the 3B's for dinner. On the 12th I would do Leaky Cauldron for late lunch and do something nice in CityWalk for dinner since the parks close earlier -- call it an early birthday celebration! Vivo, Cowfish, and NBC Sports Grill & Brew were all good in City Walk and I thought much better than the park food. Finnegan's food offerings are too much like the pub food on offer at Leaky Cauldron for me to want to do both.

IMO, HP rides are best during the last hour of the day. Mornings are packed, unless u are actually there for opening. Today (March break Sunday) was very busy and I got mixed up thinking EPA was at IOA. We got to Gringotts at 8:30am. The line was 45+ mins. We wandered back at 9:30pm (park close at 10pm) and it was practically a walk on. I got a shot of DD in a completely empty bank!

We went back tonight at 9pm and Diagon Alley was again quiet with Gringotts at 15mins.

Last trip we did Forbidden Journey during EPA but were about 15 mins late. Thought the line was 20 mins but when we got in, after about 5-10 mins, I realized it would be at least 45+ mins so we left the line and walked all the way to USF for Minions.
