Lunch or Breakfast at Akershus

I initially had breakfast reservations at Akershus, but after seeing that the breakfast is a basic breakfast, and the lunch serves food from Norway, I made a separate reservation for lunch at Akershus for the same day. I will cancel one, but I thought I'd get some feedback before deciding which one.

First, I assume that the princesses are at both lunch and breakfast. If that can be confirmed, I'd appreciate it. Also, assuming that the princesses are at both meals, knowing that which princesses show up is random, I was still curious if there was a difference between lunch and breakfast. That is whether the number is the same at both meals or whether one of princesses never shows up at lunch, or the flip side, whether one of the princesses always shows up at lunch.

Also, I'm just curious for those that like Norwegian food, how they found the quality of the food at lunch. We really enjoyed our dinner there two years ago.

Last, we have never had a table service meal for lunch as we always do table service for dinner except for our last day, when it's breakfast at Ohana. So my question is how much does a table service lunch, especially a character meal, interrupt your day?

Thanks in advance.

We had the lunch or dinner (don't remember) there and IMHO it was our worst meal that we had. Maybe we just don't enjoy Norwegian food...I left there still hungry.
Now the princess interactions there were GREAT! If I had to choose, I would choose breakfast. But I am sure there are some people who love the food. We will not eat there again for lunch or dinner.

Princesses are at each of the meals at Akershus. Which ones and how many I think is all luck of the draw. Also, the cost of the meal includes a photopackage with Belle (1 package for every 4 people). We feel that the breakfast is pretty standard things, but it's still pretty good (I love breakfast foods). My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our lunch there last trip. I had a salmon burger of some sort which was good and she had a mushroom ravioli type dish. The appitizer bar has cheeses and meats and salads which you could easily fill up on and the desserts are served family style (3 desserts on a plate for the table), which were all yummy.

If your looking to be a little adventurous go with the lunch. If you want to play it safe or price is an issue and you want to save a couple of dollars go with the breakfast. :thumbsup2

We went there for breakfast last year. The princesses were great but we did not like the food at all. We will not go back.

Thanks for the responses so far. I'm leaning towards lunch since we are going to be having eggs, bacon and sausage almost every other morning. Plus, when we ate there for dinner two years ago, we liked the food. So lunch, may be a change of pace.

I'm still concerned about a TS character meal in the middle of the day. We usually head back to the hotel right (on-site) around 1:00 so I'm curious if this will present a problem.

We had lunch there in September 2010 and it was one of our best meals. The desserts were so good. Would do it again for sure.

What time is the lunch ADR for? If it is early afternoon you could still take a mid-day break and if it is later in the afternoon maybe you can use the morning to relax at the resort for a bit, use the pool, etc. etc. etc. Then head to the park for your ADR and stay for the day without needing a break. :confused3

Our lunch reservation is at 12:10. I don't think this is a bad time. But here is the rest of our day. We have dinner at Teppan Edo at 5:25, and then we are doing the Illuminations cruise, which we have to be at by 8:00.

So it may be a bit jammed up that day, but I'd really rather have lunch at Akershus than breakfast.

I've had breakfast and lunch there. We enjoyed both. I didn't love my lunch entree there - I had the traditional Kjotteter (sp), the meatball. It was kind of bland. But I really enjoyed the cold buffet and LOVED the desserts! I loved the breakfast - loved the cheesy potatoes. We got a breakfast before park opening and that was cool. One thing I didn't like about lunch was that we weren't done in Future world but had to leave to catch lunch, and then we did the WS, so it interrupted our touring. With breakfast, we ate, then went to Future world and didn't feel rushed.

I can tell you the day we had lunch at Akershus, we had dinner at Teppan Edo early and none of us were that hungry. So IMHO, I would do breakfast.

We had the same princesses both time - Belle greeting, Ariel, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White & Cinderella. Lunch was in Sept. 2009 & Breakfast was in May 2010.

I also think a 12:10 lunch could make it hard for you to eat at TE at 5:25. If you think about it by the time your done with your Akershus lunch it could be close to 1:30. That does not leave you a whole lot of time to digest before having to be ready to eat dinner. I would personally go with your Akershus lunch and skip your TE dinner (we also have better hibachi at home so we wouldn't waste our time at TE, I guess you can call me bias on that one). This way you can still head back for your mid-day break and won't feel so rushed to get back to EC. If you get hungry before your IllumiNations cruise, just have a quick CS meal. EC has a lot of good CS locations.

We only do breakfast there, but then again I don't have adventurous eaters in my family. Breakfast at Akershus is a must do for us and we always get an ADR for before the park opens which makes it more special. My DH and I are in love with the cheesy potato casserole plus the cold bar is so good with the fresh fruit and breakfast pastries....the picture with Belle and the meet and greet with the other princesses is just an added bonus.

I have heard the food there at lunch is a little odd. We usually eat a wide variety of food but have always been a little afraid to try lunch there. We have eaten breakfast there several times there and just love it.
