So my 8 year old has just read Tom Sawyer and is now a huge fan and so we plan to spend some time on the island on our next trip and I was wondering if there are little restaurants there that we can maybe have lunch. It has been years since I have gone on Tom Sawyer island so I have no idea what it is like anymore. TIA

I haven't seen Aunt Polly's open in YEARS! They had some vending machines for sodas but I don't recall seeing anything else.

I guess you could always get lunch-to-go at a CS restaurant and take it with you. There are some benches on the island where you could eat. Does anyone know if they would allow food and drinks on the raft?

We haven't seen Aunt Polly's open on our last several trips either. There are still a few tables down there dockside. Wouldn't be the most convenient thing to do, but I guess you could get Pecos Bill's or a turkey leg and take it over there.

We actually did this a couple of years ago and it worked out nicely. We bought botttled drinks at a cart, sandwiches at Pecos Bills, hopped a raft to TSW and ate at the tables and chairs at Aunt Polly's. It was very relaxing and didn't take long at all. We even brought a deck of cards over and chilled out for a while as the park was very crowded and we had lots of time.:thumbsup2

Aunt Polly's Dockside Diner has been closed for YEARS.

The Island just isn't the "same" without Aunt Polly's.Aunt Polly's was one of the first stops on the first day of my first trip to WDW so I really miss it for nostalgia reasons.:)

Now,instead of Aunt Polly's Dockside Diner,we have Aunt Polly's Dockside Vending Machines!;):)

It has been years since I had been over there and I did remember some sort of food establishment being there but could not remember the details. I do kind of remember having some sort of Apple dessert with ice cream there though. It really stinks that it is gone maybe with all of the MK expansion they will spruce up the island.

On our trip this past May we actually packed a lunch and took it over to the island in a small soft-sided cooler. We found some crates to sit on in a nice, quiet little corner and had such a peaceful lunch.

I'm not sure if I'd want to grab CS and do that though, just because of having to take all of that food on trays/plates on the raft.

I think this sounds like a fun thing to do!
