Lunch in World Showcase

We're doing our first trip to the World Showcase part of Epcot this coming January (the kids and I have done FW before, but not WS; my wife has never done Epcot at all). We're planning on starting the day in FW, doing Soarin' and Test Track and so on, going to WS when it opens.

What we'd like to do is have an early lunch at one of the WS restaurants. So the questions are:

1) What's the earliest that the WS restaurants open?
2) What's your favorite place for lunch?

I think most open around 11, are you looking for TS or CS suggestions? Because our favorite CS is Sunshine Seasons in Future World

Actually I believe that nearly all the World Showcase TS restaurants don't open til noon. For lunch any of them would be good; just depends what type of food you want. If the weather's nice we enjoy being able to sit outside at the Rose & Crown overlooking the water.

Not sure how old your kids are but I hear great feedback about the Chef's De France as everyone seems to love it when Remy puts in an appearance

we have always enjoyed San Angel for lunch although you will read mixed reviews on this. Since it was always just me and ds I found this cool, dark and somewhat mysterious place was a great spot to relax and regroup. DS always loved the ride and loved watching others ride by. We always enjoyed the food and had good service. Our other ts fav is Rose & Crown.

I think most places open at 12:00 although a few open at 11:30. We had Akershus at 11:45 last time. In December we have Les Chefs de France at 12:00.

I think you'd be great with almost any TS restaurant for lunch.

We love eating in WS in Epcot. We enjoy both TS and the International CS.
Our favorite TS, in no particular order include:
San Angel Inn in Mexico, Teppan Edo in Japan, Restaurant Marrakesh in Morrocco, Rose & Crown in the UK and Le Cellier in Canada.
Our favorite CS in WS, in no particular order, include:
Cantina de San Angel in Mexico, Sommerfest in Germany, Yakatori House in Japan, Tangerine Cafe in Morrocco, the French Bakery in France, and Harry Ramsden's Fish & Chips in the UK.
We were going to try Sunshine Seasons in the Land this past trip, but we ran out of time on our last day.

Didn't know Remy showed up at Le Chefs! The kids will be 10 and 9 at the time, and are pretty good at restaurants.

Either or both. Is Sunshine Seasons the one at The Land?

We usually try to enjoy a late lunch buffet in Germany. If we try for 3:00 or so we get to pay lunch prices and I think by around 4:00 or 4:30 they start bring out a few more dinner items. Eating this way will generally keep us full for the rest of the day (except for maybe some pastries from France while watching IllumiNations).

Our favorite thing to do with our kids is to go to several countries (this past year it was Germany, Morocco, France and Japan) to the CS restaurants and order one adult platter to split among the four of us. You get a drink, dessert and entree at each country and the kids loved trying foods they might never have tried before.

We made a rule you had to try one bite of everything before you could say no thank you and everyone had to have a taste. It was great fun. There is a review in my blog (dining reviews) link is in my signature with pictures of the platters.

My kids found they loved lamb, cous cous, sauerkraut and ginger cake. You just never know!

Earliest that we were able to eat (when they open) at noon...Chefs and Tutto are the best TS lunches we have had in Epcot, second to Le Cellier and Beirgarten

We have a 11:35am ressie at Le Cellier in Jan so some of WS restaurants must open at 11:30am

A good trick is a late Akershus Princess Storybook Breakfast in Norway.
We usually get a 9:30 ADR so that we have 1 1/2 hours on EMH days to do Soarin', Mission: Space, etc.
Then we hit a nice, relaxing, long "brunch" and are standing in Norway at 11:00 when it opens for Maelstrom.
It may be a bit early for you but since it's family style and a buffet, you can get enough food to last until an early dinner.

Many of the WS restaurants don't open until noon - there are some exceptions, such as Le Cellier, but as others have already posted, noon is typical opening.

We've enjoyed Chefs de France and Rose and Crown for lunch but it really depends on your taste in food. Tutto Italia is supposed to be a very good lunch spot and less expensive than dinner - we had a food & wine pairing there last month as part of the F&W Festival and the food was excellent.

My favorite place for lunch right at opening is Rose and Crown. It's easier at lunchtime to get a seat out on the porch, and it's a really nice view to watch the boats going back and forth across the lagoon and watch the ducks paddling around.

We usually stick to CS, but we LOVE the Yorkshire Fish Company and Cantina de San Angel.

Morroco is always a favorite for TS and CS when we go. Marrakesh is a nice break from a hot day. Both my DH and I really enjoyed the sampler plate. They have musicians that come out and a belly dancer also. She was really entertaining - getting the kids up on the floor and showing them how to dance. The CS was absolutely delicious and we sat outside at the table on a beautiful day. Its set back enough that it is quiet and away from the crowds walking around.

The Garden Grill is fun in the Land. The restaurant rotates through some of living with the land and you have character dining. The food is fantastic (beef, turkey & catfish) and served family style.

We also enjoyed San Angel Inn and the Cantina - both yummy. Japan is always good too. Its always fun to watch them cook at the table.

Have only eaten at Canada and Norway's restaurants. We didn't care for Norway...all cold food. But LOVED the soup, breadsticks, etc. in Canada.

My family really likes to have lunch at Chefs de France. They have a prix fixe menu with a few choices for each course. You really get a lot of food! I always get the french onion soup, ham and cheese quiche, and creme brulee. YUM
