Who has experience with their child receiving lunch in the nursery? We have a 2 year, and I might want to put him in the nursery during his lunch sometime so that I could go to a movie with my husband, and/or to Palo for brunch. What is the experience like if they are there during meals? Do we have a choice of what they can eat?

I don't believe they do lunch in the nursery, only in the kid's clubs. You need to supply whatever food you child might need while in the nursery. This is from the DCL website about what to bring to the nursery:
Parents should bring baby food, formula and bottles; the nursery is able to provide milk. Parents wishing to provide breast milk may do so. Parents may also bring non–perishable snack food items in their sealed and original packaging. Please do not bring products containing peanuts or nuts. Disney's trained counselors will be more than happy to feed your child. Additionally, parents are urged to include diapers or pull–ups, diaper wipes, extra clothing and a baby blanket or pacifier, if applicable, when dropping off their child.

hmm.... maybe it was RCI where I saw a kid eating lunch during nursery time. But they must do something for the kids that just eat normal food and they have them during a meal time... My kid doesn't eat baby food. Snacks I understand because the ship doesn't really provide "snack" food....

Hi! No, he only went to the nursery after he had eaten dinner. I did get the impression they might give him some food while he was there, though. We had to be very explicit about what he could/couldn't have due to his allergies and had to make sure to leave his Epi-pen with them in case he had a reaction.

I've never cruised with a nursery-age child...but I do believe I've read reports that if the child is eating regular table food, the nursery will feed the same meal that is served in the Club/Lab. For lunch that tends to be something along the lines of a cheese sandwich and fruit, dinner might be mac-n-cheese or chicken nuggets. I'm not sure there is much choice to it, though. You'd definitely want to confirm the schedule (meals at the Club/Lab are served at a specific time) and the menu so you can decide whether to feed your child from room service or pool-side quick service instead.

Enjoy your cruise!

We never had DD in the nursery during meal time, but I know she had yogurt and some fruit. I am not sure what they had for meals.

Lunch is served in the nursery between 12 and 1pm. On the Disney Dream, cold sandwiches are served every lunch except castaway when it is pizza and chicken. Dinner is also served between 5:30 and 6:15.

Snacks are provided, crackers yogurt and bananas.

Parents can provide snacks as long as they are unopened in original packaging. I recommend single serving snacks!!

You will also need to provide the milk, room service or the open deck is where they recommended getting it from.

Lunch and dinner are both served as well as snacks, and they are pretty good about trying to get the kids to eat a bit (though they won't force it). They take any allergies or preferences into account and always let you know what they ate when you pick the kiddos up. I know when we were on in March there was cheese, crackers, and fruit for snacks and a variety of pasta, vegetables, chicken, etc served at dinner. I have to laugh because DS (19 mo) wasn't eating much of anything that didn't come in the form of a cracker or a grape on that trip, but they still did their best to get him to eat.

As others have mentioned they will provide water or juice, but you have to bring your own milk in due to allergy concerns (they will refrigerate it for you), we always snagged a couple of extra cartons at Cabanas in the morning to have throughout the day (the only place they regularly had whole milk set out), and we also ordered extra whenever we got room service to keep in our room fridge.

Thank you for those detailed responses. We solved our nursery concerns by having grandma come too! And we leave very soon- yay!!!

yes, they do lunch. we just sailed on the fantasy in may and last year on the magic. i don't remember if it was turkey and cheese or ham and cheese sandwiches. she also had crackers, yogurt, and bananas at some point. they will make notes on your preferences, for example we are veg and our daughter doesn't drink juice.

i think grandma will enjoy Palo brunch too! i would not be concerned about putting your baby in the nursery for a couple of hours. the cast members are wonderful! we mostly used the nursery for nap time on at sea days. we went to see the avengers movie in 3D!
