I'm trying to decide where to eat lunch at MK, before the MNSSHP that night, I will be eating at Crystal Palace earlier in the week so I don't want to hit the same place twice. This is my frist trip so any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

My vote is for Casey's hotdogs for something quick or Liberty Tree Tavern for sit down.

For a sit down lunch at the MK we have always enjoyed The Plaza Restaurant. We have found the menu and service have been consistent over the years.

For counter service, we enjoy Pecos Bills or Cosmic Rays, depending on where we are at in the park in the hunger pains set in.

I second the Plaza Restaurant - we were able to walk in on Labor Day without a PS because Hurricane Frances had emptied the parks. The restaurant is deceptively tiny and you have to go outside to use the restrooms! The Plaza club was very good and the chicken and strawberry salad was huge -- could easily feed 2 people. I can also recommend the chocolate shake as among the best I have had. If Clayton is working, ask for him since he was a very attentive server.

I really like the toppings bar at Pecos Bill Cafe. Everyone on the board is also talking about the Plaza Restaurant though, so I'm going to be trying that next!

Our favorite lunch spot in the MK is Liberty Tree Tavern.

The menu is wonderful..the food is fantastic. It is the perfect place to have a nice sitdown meal for lunch..before a major evening event. That also means..you aren't wasting event time in a sitdown restaurant. You can just grab snacks during the parade to keep everyone happy.

We ate the Plaza Restaurant. I would have also considered Cosmic Rays. These 2 places seem to have more of a decent selection for more of a decent price to some other places in MK. I think there is somewhere you can see a menu....but, cannot recall the site right now. If nobody else posts it, I will look thru my "Disney" book and find it and post it for you.

For a quick lunch we really like Columbia Harbour House. They have awesome chicken fingers, great sandwiches, and if it's cool like it was the last time we were there I hear they've got great soup too. They have a pretty good variety, and not as many people know about it as, say Cosmic Rays, or places like that so it's not as busy at peak times.
If you want something more substantial LTT is a great suggestion.

we like to get the very first seating at the castle, and check in 15 min early; this usually gets you a table by the window. The service is very attentive and it's a nice, rational break. The soup, bread and major duomo pie are marvelous.

The Plaza Restaurant is a great spot for lunch if you want something more than the usual fast food, but don't feel like spending alot on a buffet. The reuben with German potato salad is very good.

if you have the time, take the boat over to Ft. Wilderness resort and eat at Trails End Buffet. It is great food and a nice break from the park craziness!

standard chicken fingers for kids I actually tried them pretty good
very good fried fish
good sandwiches tuna salad was great
and clam chowder in bread bowl
all in an atmosphere that was less chaotic than rest of park check out the second floor if main floor is full

previous poster couldn't recall web address here is one
www.allearsnet.com and check out dining tab at top and then mkingdom on left menu then select restaurant you desire updated pretty frequently

Debs is usally on the ball

My favorite lunch item in the Magic Kingdom is the Garden Galley Salad at the Columbia Harbor House. It's big enough for 2 people to split, and it won't weigh you down like some of the other fast food places will (Pecos Bill's not-so-heart healthy menu comes to mind).

It's also a relatively quiet place to eat lunch, especially if you take the staircase up to the second floor dining area. Not many folks seem to know about this, as it's never been crowded when we've eaten there.

Bon Apetit & Let the Big Dawg Eat !!

My vote would be for the Columbia Harbor House or Cosmic Rays. Definitely check out the menus at Allearsnet.

Thanks to all these replies, now I have to decide from all the one's you guys recommended. I was leaning towards the Plaza cause I checked out the menu and it looks good. I'll just have to study the menus now and figure out which one sounds best!!

JMHO, but I think it depends on what else you are doing during the day you go to MNSSHP. If you aren't too busy, I would also think about going to Trail's End. A good deal, and something new to check out that your little boy may love! ;)

Have fun planning! :teeth:

please do look at the castle menu before you decide. Where else can you be called "my lord" and "my lady"?:jester:
