Has anyone ever tried to pack for a cruise with just 2 carry-ons? A little suitcase and a carry-on bag?

I bet you could you do with one small suitcase and a carryon per person. Just pack clothes you can mix and match and cut down on shoes. You did not mention what length cruise....a 3/4 day would be no problem (I have done it). A 7 day may take more planning but could be done. If you skip formal you can definately do it easily...if you want to participate in formal night just pack nice black slacks with a nice blouse or black dress.

My DW and I went with two hangup bags that roll, one large suitcase and one medium suitcase that was empty (for stuff we bought).

I would like to cut that down on our next trip. Maybe two medium suitcases!

Eventually I would like to just take my bathing suit but the DW would NEVER go for that!

I think you can, AND if you do, send us tips on how you did it! I am sure I can pack less, I just get "afraid" that I will need more. (I never do!)

My mom did it on a 7 day. Washed a few clothes in the bath tub since the ship she was on had no laundrymat and she didn't want to pay for cleaning. She did that once, said it was fine, but on the cruises she has taken since she checks a bag.
