Luggage weight

We are flying over to the UK on easyjet and the weight limit and size for the carry on is rather small.

I have a lot of things to bring and thought of making an apron with pockets all over it and putting things into the pockets and wearing it over my regular clothing. I would try hard to make it look nice and matching but then I could bring more without worrying about weight.

Would this work? How can I bring what I need?

I imagine this would be a nightmare for security, assuming that all the things you are "wearing" are able to go through security.

As you'll have to empty all of the pockets and they may ask you to remove it. Can you not add a hold bag? Or maybe purchase some of the things you need when you arrive to save on weight?

EasyJet don't care about WEIGHT. Your hand baggage can weigh whatever you want - as long as you can lift it into the overhead bin (they won't help you do this).

They care about the dimensions of the hand luggage - but actually their allowance is pretty generous (I have travelled for weeks with much less than EasyJet will allow). Obviously you can fit more in if you wear the bulky items (e.g. coat, jumper, jeans, largest shoes) but otherwise you need to check a bag if you need more room. EasyJet are strict and they will insist that your bag is measured prior to boarding. You can get a slightly bigger bag into the hold for free but then you must board the plane with nothing but yourself (make sure your valuables fit into your pockets under this circumstance).

To be honest, I'd just pay to check in a bag. Sounds cheaper and less hassle than trying to construct something to "get around" the rules - particularly since I imagine that EasyJet would have something to say about that kind of attire. Alternatively it may be cheaper for you to post the items to your destination since EasyJet only operate within (essentially) Europe.

I have booked already and want to purchase check bag but can't seem to find a place.

I think you are right. I want to carry all my round little jars of face paint and it would be best to put it all in a bag and not worry.

Is the luggage by sq meter total or actual size? I have LV duffel that I love to use but it round not square.

If your face paint is liquid you wouldn't be able to take it onboard anyway unless they are under 100 mil.

It's by actual dimensions. 50x40x20cm. They have a crate at each gate which is EXACTLY this size - your bag MUST fit within the case to board. You also may only have ONE bag, so handbags etc. need to go in there too. You can actually have a slightly bigger bag for free (55x45x25cm) but it WILL go in the hold (for free). At this point, you're travelling with whatever you can put in your pockets.

You can check bags at Bag Drop when you arrive at the airport for £30. If you get to the gate and your bag is too big, they will charge for £45 to put it in the hold.
