Luggage Transfer?

We will be driving down from Boston in April. Were going to stay off-site the night before our BWV check-in, but just found a great rate for AS Sports, so I'm thinking it might be worth checking it out, especially since we're scheduled to go to AK that first day.

One factor that would convince me.....If we are checking into the BWV the next day, will they transfer our luggage for us? I think I remember reading something along those lines in some trip reports. That would be a huge help!

Anyone have experience with this??

Thanks! :flower:

Yes they will, but a warnin, myself and another poster both had our luggage lost. In my case they picked it up at my room at the GF at 11:15 (they took 45 minutes to get there after we called!) and at 4:00 it wasn't at the BWV. In fact it didn't arrive until after 7:00, and that was only after they took three hours looking around every luggage room in every resort, as the GF had no idea what they had done with it. caused us to miss our dinner reservation on our aniversary, we were not happy.

I'll never have them move it again.

Yes, Disney will move your luggage from the AS Sports to the BWV's for you. Just contact bell services at the AS Sports, and tell them you are moving to the BWV. They will give you a claim check. The luggage will arrive at the BWV sometime in the mid-afternoon. Just remember to tip bell services at both resorts :)

I have had Disney transfer luggage three or four times for me without any problems. It's very easy. I usually have the luggage picked up early in the morning on transfer day, then I go to the parks, and go to the second resort around check in time.

One tip, you may want to pack in a way where you only have to open up one suitcase that last night. I usually keep my clothes for the first resort seperate from the second one.

If you have your own car I would do it yourselves. You will have it when you want it and you will not have to worry about it.
We did this in Nov and it was very easy. :)

Thanks everyone! I love how quickly you get responses on this board!!

I think we may just keep everything in our car and take it to the AK with us. We can then check ourselves and the luggage in at the same time, before we head out for the HDDR that evening.

My only concern was the safety of leaving the packed car in a lot all day. Do you think the AK parking lot is safe enough that we don't have to worry about someone breaking in?

I think it would be ok as long as it was not visable. Will you be able to put it all in the trunk?
I would not leave anything real valuable in the car.
Another option is going over to your next resort and checking in early and leaving your bags there.
When we switched resorts in Nov we were able to check in AND GET OUR ROOM at 8:30 am. We left everything off and then went to Epcot.
Just another option for you.

Thanks......

Unfortunately, we have a station wagon. I have a cover for the back, but I'm not sure everything will fit under it. On our driving stops enroute, I'm planning to bring just enough into the room with us each night so I can close the cover. We will have a DVD player that I don't relish keeping in the car.

I don't really want to go all the way over to the BWV and then back to AK. The closeness to AK was one of the main draws of AS Sports (well, that and the price!) for that 1st nite. Maybe we should just store everything at AS Sp when we check out that morning, then pick it up before heading to BWV?? Or is that crazy?

I actually think that may be a good solution. From what you are saying I know I would not feel at ease leaving my things in the car.
At this point if it were me I would have the bags sent over or leave them at the resort until after the park and take them myself.

It only takes five minutes to get from teh AS to the BW, I'd just go over in the morning before you go to the AK.

We had our luggage transfered for us from the BC to GF. Bell services must have warned us at least 20 times that it wouldn't be available until 1PM so I expect there have been problems in the past. We waited about 1/2 hour for Bell Services at BC.

What I was really unhappy about was the GF didn't have our room ready until around 5pm. This was the first time I ever had to wait for a room and it really did mess up our afternoon. They kept telling us since 1pm, it would be ready "soon" so we hung around waiting for it. The front desk was really unapologetic about the wait.

My advice is make sure you have a "carry-on" available if a room or luggage delay will be problem.

We are planning to spend the bulk of the day at AK, so I don't expect to need much from our luggage until 5:00 or so. I'm thinking I'll transfer most of the stuff over to BWV (I assume they'll just hold it there til we check in?), and keep a carry-on in the car with bathing suits and a change of clothes for HDD (7:15) just in case. Would you trust them to transfer the DVD player? I may just hide that in the car (which will be easier to do if it's mostly empty!)to avoid a risk of breakage. Which is the bigger risk do you think? Breakage or theft?!?
