We have 1st seating for dinner... how many of you have NOT had your luggage delivered in time for dinner? I was thinking of wearing a sun dress when boarding, do I really need to carry a change of clothes for dinner in case the luggage doesn't make it? THANKS!! :teeth:

ME! ME! On both of our cruises my bag has been the one that didn't show up. :( The first it got there as we were leaving & I met my family in the dining room. The second, I had to wear jeans & sandals which probably bothered me more than anyone else. On our next trip I am rolling my outfit up in our carryon so that they will show up early. ;) IMO a sundress would be just fine for dinner any night other than formal or semiformal.

Only thing I ever carry on is my daughters medicines, other than that I don't want to be carrying anything onboard. Both cruises my luggage has been in the room and we have had it unpacked before the life boat drill! I will take my chances on it being there on time rather than carrying things onboard with me. I like having just the little medicine bag to carry around while having lunch and doing the Ressie rush.

It may be a good idea to put an outfit in 2 different bags. We had one bag arrive late--we were actually getting nervous that it had not made it to the ship!
If you have an outfit you abosolutely, positively MUST wear the first night, I'd carry it on. Your room should be ready by 1:30. If you arry on is like mine, it will get wrinkled, but the irons are there to use.

During our first three cruises our luggage never arrived later than 4pm, but last time it was nearly 6pm. So for our next cruise we'll have something les casual in our carry-on.

The first night in the restaurant is very casual as they know some people may not have had their luggage arrive yet. Wearing a sun dress is perfectly acceptable.

On both of our cruises we have had all luggage before the lifeboat safety drill.

Just wondering where the luggage gets to. If you drop it off at the terminal surely it cannot take that long to get onboard? Or perhaps I am missing something and the luggage that is late is checked in elsewhere, perhaps at the original resort. Just getting concerned here.

DCL handles thousands of pieces of luggage per cruise...it can take several hours once it gets to the ship to get sorted out by cabin number/deck and be deliv. Most luggage is in the room by 6 pm. But, once in awhile a stray piece gets sent to the wrong room or something and it may take awhile to get it back to the correct cabins. Remember, many people's cabins change at the port (if they were upgraded) and the luggage tags may still have the originally assigned stateroom number on it.

On our last cruise one small piece of my luggage set did not arrive. I called guest service a few times and found out that it somehow was delivered to guest service. It was a case that had Mickey all over it, stood out from the normal luggage. Finally got the whole thing straightened out by 2:00 am!! But, in defense of DCL it was on the cruise that was shortened by Hurricane Jeanne and our luggage was picked up at WDW and delivered to Ft. Lauderdale where we ship was....so it was a very confusing day for DCL all around!!

But don't worry. They have a very small percentage of bags not delivered by 6 pm.

I am not really bothered as long as I have a swim costume will be fine. Just wonder where it can get to if you hand it in when checking in at the port.
If we get an upgrade will definitely not complain about lack of luggage.

We actually had 2nd seating on our cruise, but I do remember that some of the luggage was a little later than the rest. I think that if I were to ever have first seating that I would definitely carry my dinner clothes in my carry-on. Especially if you board late then have to go to the safety drill. But then again, not everyone takes as long to get ready as I!
