I'm not sure if anyone has done this already, but I thought I would share. Our luggage tags came in from Disney a couple of days ago, and I wanted to do something to make them special. My first idea was to write in the info in colored markers, and perhaps draw simple character outlines along the bottom of the tags. I actually bought a set of colored sharpie markers just for the project, however my hand writing / printing isn't the best, and the couple of practice attempts I made at drawing characters didn't come out too good.

After feeling down for a bit about my failed attempt, I decided to do what I do best, and I went for the computer. I scanned in one of the paper inserts from the tags, and transferred it into Photoshop. I made my canvas normal paper size, and made six more copies of the tag (there are seven of us going on the trip). I arranged all seven copies on the page, then made text boxes for name, address, city / state, and phone number for each tag.

I typed in all the proper information for each tag, using a nice script handwritten font (much more legible than my own hand writing). I then chose a Disney character for each member of our party. A bit of searching around on the internet (I love the google image search) yielded me pictures of each character. I sized, and arranged the characters so there were two on each tag, on the bottom row of the tag on each side. I then picked a color from each character, and used that color for the text on that tag.

When I liked the way that they all looked, I printed the tags out on regular paper, and then cut them to fit. Since my tags don't have the little tear off section at the end, I needed to use a small flat head screwdriver to push the tag all the way into the holder. The look great, and the kids were thrilled with them.

I'll try to post a picture of the tag inserts here a bit later.

If anyone would like a copy of the Photoshop file, let me know and I'll see if I can send it along (not sure how big the file is), or post a copy of it on my website.

Thanks great!! I would love to see the finished product! I too am not a big fan of my own handwriting and prefer things printed out every chance I get.

I don't like handwriting things either, so I will use scarpbooking stickers to complete and master the product

Sorry it took me so long to respond here, I've been really busy. The image below is what one of the tags looks like. I just saved the original file as a JPG, this isn't an actual picture of the tag. Kopee, I tried emailing the psd file to you, though I am not sure if it will work or not (btw, not sure why I thought I was sending that to an aol account, duh) but I am also including a link here which should allow you to download the original file from my website.
