I will preface this question, “I know can just call DCL” but I have this community with all the answers. But I will contact DCL if necessary.

I recently switched my stateroom. I received my luggage tags yesterday with the old stateroom number.

Question? Can I just cross the old and write in the new one with a bold sharpie?

Will it get to the correct stateroom??

Or do I need to call DCL or do something at the port.

I do not want to schlepp my luggage all around either me on embarkation day.

Thanks in advance for everyone help!

There are porters at the port who will be able to give you new luggage tags.

I'm curious about this too since I'm pondering changing my stateroom. I'll be on DCL transportation from Sports, so I'd rather they pick up my bag from my room.

But my suspicion is that it would be linked to the bar code on your tags automatically. I mean, I doubt people who are checking about upgrades at the port drag all their bags with them to get new tags, and those seem to get to the right place.

Luggage tags don't have barcodes anymore, just the stateroom number. You ask as once you get to Sports for blank luggage tags to write your new stateroom on it.

There no longer is any bar code on the luggage tag. Just the room number. If you book a GTY or *GT Rate they send them out without number and you write it on yourself.

I would recommend getting blank ones at the port and writing in the stateroom number. You could cross out the old number on your current ones, but that seems like it could lead to misreading, etc. I'd just start fresh with blank ones.

Well that's stupid. How do they handle port upgrades?

I'm sure that they have a system to handle a handful of room changes like port upgrades. It could be as simple as a list of updates that's given to the crew that distributes luggage.

I'm not sure, but I'm guessing they'd make note of your old stateroom number and then retrieve the bags to take to your new room (either en-route or once they're delivered to your original stateroom).
