Okay...no laughing. We are cruising for the 1st time tomorrow. We are now at CI&S and I was wondering about the luggage tags that are in the packet w/your cruise documents. They sent us six, 2 per person. Okay, yes we overpacked and have more than 6 pieces of luggage. Will they give us more at the Port when we arrive to drop off our luggage with the porters?

Yes you can get more at check in.

are you on the 4 day Wonder cruise, 11/25??

if so, I'll be there also.

Some of us are going to meet in the Promenade Lounge at 3 pm to meet and say "Hi". Deck 3 midship. Can't miss it. It's the Deck we board on.

Please come and join us. YOu'll have plenty of time before the firedrill and sail away parry.

Are these the ones that go onto each of the check-in luggage before you get to the airport and fly down? And if so, aren't these the tags that let the DCL cast members know which ones to grab from the carrosell (sp?) and bring to the ship so you don't have to touch them until you get to your stateroom?

If you have more check-in luggage than tags, how will they know which are the additional pieces? If some of the additional pieces are your carry-on they do not need a tag because they will always be with you.

We have done this before as well. The porters will have extra tags for you and you can attach them at the port.

Speaking of Luggage tags......

Does anyone have a picture of these luggage tags??

I am surprising my hubby with the cruise and don't want to give anything away until we get to MCO if possible.

I am hoping that they look like the Magical express tags so I can play it off with no problem.

To clarify, the porters will have them outside the terminal. When you drop off your luggage just let them know that you need extras and they'll take care of it. Don't wait until check-in to do this as you'll then have to go back outside with the extra bags.

Many cruisers do not use the DCL transfers so they take care of their own luggage. Those people should not put the tags on their luggage until after they fly down (if they fly) so that their bags won't be pulled aside at the airport.

I am not sure what you do if you have extra bags for your flight. I would assume that you will be responsible for getting those bags to the port as they won't have the green tags and, therefore, won't be pulled aside. Also, the airlines have the same limitations as DCL (2 pieces of checked luggage per person) so I'm not sure how you'd get around that in the first place. DCL does relax those limits, offering extra luggage tags if needed, but I am not sure the airlines will.

I don't have a picture, but they do not look anything like the Magical Express tags, primarily so the luggage handlers at the airport don't get confused. They are about 2 inches wide and are bright green. They will come in your document packet though so as long as you don't open that in front of him you sould be all set. The documents come in a plain, white, plastic envelope via UPS. If he usually gets home before you each day you might want to see if you can change the address to a friend or family member's so he won't see the envelope as it clearly states Disney Cruise Line in the return address.

Thanks, Yogibigdog, for posting that picture; our scanner wasn't cooperating. The length of the tags are about 16" - so the whole tag wouldn't scan, any way.

I noted that after your stateroom number was the letter 'A'. Our stateroom number is followed by the letters 'F' 'C'. Haven't a clue what they mean or what the difference is.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

My only guess would be that it has something to do with location on the ship so the luggage handlers can more easily get everythere to where it needs to go.

Either way, I'm sure it's some organizational/classification code Disney uses for something or other! :rotfl:

F = Forward
C = Center
A = Aft

The letters make it easier for the porters to sort out the luggage when bringing it to the ship as they don't have to keep track of where each room number is on the ship.

Thank you so much for that picture!!

As long as DH doesn't look too hard at them I should be able to get away with "OH Disney just changed the look of the luggage tags" deal..

Cross your fingers and wish me luck!
