I am a bit worried that the tags provided by DCL won't stay on all our bags. We will check them at the airport and then they go on the busses. Anybody ever have a problem with them not staying on the bag? I am wondering if I should fortify them with postal tape.

Thanks

When you put them on you pull them through the slit by pulling them all the way tight you'll notice that it fits into a small opening in the tag. The piece that you pulled through is larger than the opening so it doesn't pull out. They are made out of a reinforced type of product so that they don't rip.

We have been on several DCL cruises and never lost a tag yet. We ususally have about 5 pieces of luggage with us (5 people) and never had a problem with tags falling off.

Just pulled out the luggage for a business trip and the DCL tags are still on there from May '01. They are pretty tough!

Just a quick suggestion. After you get back from your cruise, take the blue/yellow DCL tag off of your luggage. If you, by chance, take your luggage back through the Orlando Airport on a Sunday, Saturday or Thursday, with the old tag on them, there is a good chance that your bag will get delayed. Some of the airlines will set aside all of the DCL tagged bags in a special area for pick-up and delivery to the ship/resort. They will stay in that area until it is noticed by DCL personnel that the tag is an old one.

For the flight back home we are using the DCL busses to the airport. Don't they give us new tags to put on our bags for disembarkation??

Yes, they have color coded character tags that correspond to your deck.

In the terminal all the luggage will be sorted by color. You find your color and collect your bags. Very easy!!!

OK so new tags for disembarkation. Do we then leave these new tags on so that DCL gets them to the airport? We are flying Delta and I read that Delta has luggage check in at the airport so do we then take these "new " tags off and only use Delta or keep them on and check in with Delta at port with the "new" tags

You can leave the "new" tags on or take them off once you leave the ship with your luggage. They are not used by the airlines or for anything else.

Hi this is Shirley from the Perfect Gift - I was glad to see this thread - When I go on deliveries to the different cruise ships, while walking through customs, or other parts of the ports where the ships are, I find luggage tags on the grounds - at first I did't think much about them until I realized there was too much information on the tags to just leave behind so I began picking them up and when I got back to the shop, returning them to the person or persons named on the tag - I enclose a note just explaining it is being returned and they could dispose as they saw fit. There is so much meaness anymore that thought this could prevent from someone being hurt in any way - Glad to hear everyone is aware of making sure their tags are on good.
God bless each and all
Always

Shirley-
I just had to reply and tell you that it's sooo nice of you to go out of your way to pick up those tags and return them to the people! That's definitely going above and beyond. :)
