Luggage Tag Question

My apologies if this isn't the best spot for this question, but I have a question about the luggage tags that were sent to us along with our Magic Bands. If we put the luggage tags on our luggage, but do NOT use the Magical Express bus transport to our hotel, will our bags still be taken to our room? Is checked luggage retrieval kind of just its own service?

They did the 2 times we did this and we're down for DME this Nov. You ride the bus, the bags go in a truck.

My assumption was that you were referring to DME tags, the only thing that came with our MBs just last week were the little PassHolder sliders.

The luggage tags you get with your MB have NOTHING to do with Magical Express and the corresponding luggage delivery. The luggage delivery service to your room comes from the Yellow luggage tags that ME sends you when you book ME. Those yellow tags tell the airlines that WDW will be picking up your bags.

OK, gotcha: The colorful tags that came with the Magic Bands with Donald, Goofy, Mickey, etc, are just a little souvenir then? If I'm not booking Magical Express, I'll have to pick up my checked bags myself.

Yes if you aren’t using DME you pick up your own bags.

Sorry but no the luggage tags are just decorative ID tags that can be left on your luggage for other travel.

For ME to pull your bags and deliver via ME requires you to use the ME tags or provide your claim tags to the ME team at the desk on Orlando. In addition you must also have an active ME reservation, checking at the desk or at the bus.

It is a no cost service so I guess you could always make a ME reservation, use the ME luggage tags (Not the big plastic iD tags) or provide your airline baggage claim checks to the ME desk in Orlando but skip actually riding the ME bus.

Note: No ME for you then no way for Disney / ME to know where to send your luggage.
