Luggage storage at parks

Dd's school trip is WDW this year, staying off property. The group is riding the bus overnight from Texas, arriving at the park the next morning to spend the day there, then going to their off-property hotel that night. I'd like to chaperone, but I am WAY too old to sleep on the bus then do a park all day. I'm considering flying in and meeting the kids at that first park. Is there somewhere at the front gate to hold my luggage?

I see there are lockers to rent, but only at Epcot and MK. My best estimate, we will not be at either park that first day.

I posted this in the Disney Tips forum, but it's had 89 views and no responses. I thought I'd try over here.

Unless you're just bringing a small overnight bag, no. The lockers aren't very big. Also, anything you bring to a park will have to go through bag check.

You'll need to leave your bags at your hotel before heading to the park

In all honesty, I'm not positive about the answer so I would call if you are dependent on this information. I cannot recall any lockers at Hollywood Studios, but there are some towards the left of the entrance at Animal Kingdom. But please note the lockers are very small, you will not fit more than one backpack inside. Also as the person said above, the luggage will be subject to bag check.

Bummer, but not surprising. Going to the hotel first will mean not getting to the park until much later. Also, they'd just be holding the luggage, as the group won't check in until late that night. Logistically, it would be much better to just ride the darn bus, but that's not going to happen. Off to plan some more...

The upside is, I'm contemplating staying an extra day or two with just dd. The band director decided the kids wouldn't like Epcot, so we're not going. That's my family's favorite park. Dd was seriously upset to find out that wasn't on the itinerary.

Thanks for the fast replies.

Never call Disney to ask about anything. The amount of bad info that phone Cams give is staggering.

There are lockers at all of the parks. The large ones are not that large. Probably 1'x1'x1.5'

How are you getting to the park? You could take a taxi/uber to one of the nearby hotels and leave the bag with bell services.

Pick your poison, a CM can be just as wrong as a person on this board. Best option really is to do both.

Only Epcot has lockers large enough for luggage. Even the ones at MK aren't
We just checked at HS today because we could have used them. They have a few (much less than Epcot) but half are broken. The ones left are all locked. No idea if they were actually in use or if someone had locked them all

Nothing big enough to hold luggage, nor do they have a luggage storage option. Your best bet, is to head to the hotel first, but not check-in just have them store your luggage. If you are taking a cab to the park from the airport, just detour to the hotel first. I understand that it means getting to the park later but it won't be longer than a few minutes to check your bag AND it is 100% better than walking around all day with a suitcase.

Second option is to mail your bag down and just take your carry on into the park with you, BUT you run the risk of your bag not making it to the hotel before you do!

Sleeping on buses isn’t all that bad. I’ve done several trips like that to nyc with my dd. The excitement keeps me going all day.

If you plan on staying a few extra days with your daughter, could it be on the front end of the trip?
You could both leave a couple of days early to enjoy the parks, then your daughter could meet her group when they get there.

Send my luggage with dd...brilliant! Why the heck didn't I think of that?? You guys are great. I can easily travel with practically nothing just to get to the park.

Truly, all night on the bus is not an option. I have cervical neck issues (occupational hazard - my 2 partners have had 3 neck surgeries between them), and long plane rides are bad enough. I frequently end up in physical therapy afterwards for pinched cervical nerves. I've even had problems after falling asleep in the recliner.

Ok, the luggage problem solved. Now to decide if I want to spend the money for what would just be 2 more days. Since two days costs just a little more than one day, might as well stay 2. Which means dh and ds might want to come, which means more money. Anyone have a solution to that? LOL

I've found my fellow posters to be much more reliable than random phone CMs.

While that is probably true and it probably saves a lot of time/hassle, I just don't think it is wise to tell people NOT to use the official representatives. It would be a shame for someone to listen to a forum when there was actually a solution that no one knew about. Why not use both when both are available to you?
