Luggage storage after cruise?

Hey DISers, my DW :stitch: and I are doing some planning :surfweb: and were thinking about taking some time around Cocoa Beach the afternoon after our cruise.

So far we plan on heading back to Orlando that same evening, but we're wondering if the port has temporary storage for luggage so we're not dragging luggage down the beautiful sandy beach. Are there any other places that do that sort of thing in the area?

Thanks!

I am not aware of any "outside" places that will store it for you, but I do know that the port will not keep it, neither will Disney, neither will your airline or the airport. Actually my friends got to the airport but their flight did not leave until 6PM and the airline would not even let them check their luggage. So they had to lug it around the airport for hours!

I have only a couple of suggestions of what I have heard others do.....
1) I have heard of people getting a cheap hotel room and leaving it there.
2) Since you will need to get to your beach destination; you will need transportation; so I hear of people renting and leaving it in the car.
3) Or if you are flying home, fly with a participating airline and do the ship check in system. You put your luggage outside the door the night before and do not see it again until you get home....

Maybe someone else has suggestions for you.:confused3

You're obviously working out something to get you to the beach and back to the airport...like a rental car. Logically, you'd leave your luggage in the car.

The above post covered your options well.

Thanks guys, those are some great ideas. We were actually keeping our options open on transportation until we had our luggage storage figured out.

We're flying Internationally so we can't check our bags on the ship. That would have been absolutely ideal. ::yes::

Rental car seems iffy, because around these parts, rental cars are very well marked, so they tend to be targeted by those looking for free underpants.:lmao:

Now the cheap hotel idea might just be the key. Actually, since we're still planning, we have some flexibility, so perhaps we'll just stay at the beach for the night and make full use of the room fee.

Thanks for you suggestions!

I am going to respectfully disagree with this statement. I rent cars all over the country & multiple times to this area and don't feel that way at all. I guess I am not sure what you mean by rental cars being very well marked, but I suppose there could be a visible sticker on some rental car companies. Even if there is a marking, I am not sure why a rental car would be any more of a target than a regular car.
