My luggage is breaking down after only 2 yrs of travelling (mind you we travel a LOT) and I am planning on replacing it...

Before I buy something again, I want recommedations... It needs to be durable, light, and affordable... Who best to ask, but my fellow DISers!

Thanks!!!

We've had really good luck with Ricardo - I have Big Sur pieces and Del Mar pieces. I'm very happy with both lines.

They have a very cool pricey model...has a built in scale! :) So I'd know exactly how overpacked I was. :rotfl2:

I would not purchase a large suitcase.... Seems like you can only 1/2 fill them until they are at maximum weight for the airlines ;)

We LOVE our Delsey Helium Lite......Got the best deal for them in November from eBags . com

It is Very light and Very durable. Nice luggage at an ok price with a GOOD warranty.

And, the other poster is right. We took our Large suitcase and it was not quite full before it met its limit...

Good Luck

I'd research luggage weights without anything in them. Buy pieces that start out lighter than others.

I am also looking on e-bags, maybe to buy a set. I have a huge suitcase now so I only bring the one, but I can't pack too much because of the weight restrictions. I'd like to get a bag for me and one for DD. What's a reasonable size bag to get? Disney trips are usually 4-7 days, but DD may be going to Europe for 10 days next year. What size suitcases do you frequent travelers think would be good for trips of those lengths? I usually do laundry on my trips so that I don't have to pack as much.
Thanks!

I bought a new large suitcase from ebags.com recently and like it. It's made by Atlantic. I already had one of their smaller carry on rolling suitcases and loved it. They've been really durable and the fabric isn't flimsy. You can go through www.mousesavers.com and they have a deal with ebags where you can get anywhere from 15-20% off of your total, just depending on the time. I got 20%, but I think now it's 15. The Atlantic isn't priced badly, either. Let me know if you need the link to the mousesavers ebag page. :goodvibes

We never buy expensive luggage anymore after having so many peices damaged. After watching them load the luggage a few times we know why!

I invested in a nice small lightweight carryon and all the other luggage is cheap lightweight stuff. I also try and buy odd colors to help identify it and keep others from mistaking it for theirs. Red, dark green and black are the colors we avoid.

Eagle Creek!
It is more $$$ than most but is made to hold up to adventure travel and has a lifetime warranty. My EC rolling luggage has held up for years of frequent travel.
