--TAKEN FROM MY PRE-TRIP REPORT-

It usually doesn't matter how many bags we bring since we drive to WDW but flying & using ME, we will be arriving late at MCO so I started thinking that may be the perfect way to ask DH if we can get new luggage. It went a little something like this..

Me: DH, since we will be arriving at WDW so late, I've heard it takes a whie to get your luggage to your room. So maybe if we bought 2 new 29" wheeled suitcases it would make it easier on you to haul to the ME bus on arrival night. (you see a friend of mine just went for Easter & bought 2 of these for her family of 5 & it worked great for them - she also got them for $30 each)

So of course he agreed, since its making it easier for him.

Really though, do you think we could put all our stuff in 2 of those? I planned on maybe sending a box fedex to the room ahead of us with diapers & a few other odds & ends (but DH got me worried about - what if the box doesn't arrive, etc., etc., etc.)

We've never used ME either. So, either DH will tote luggage to ME bus or we'll pack what we need that night & next day in carryons - sounds like I'll need to work on possible packing lists to see if that'll work.

So, what about the luggage? Will it work?

Just remember most airlines have a weight restriction or you have to pay more!:goodvibes

As a ground operations employee for an airline, the 29" bags can become very heavy!

If you stuff or overstuff them, They will without a doubt become overweight.

My suggestion to you is this based on ME baggage policies
They allow 2 checked bags and 1 carryon. The carryon can be 6X15X18, so you should be able to find a small manageable suitcase that will fit those dimensions.

Then I would get 2 or 3 - 24" suitcases. Believe me, these are plenty big for most circumstances. You can fit up to a weeks worth of clothes into these. The 29" models you can fit up to 2 weeks worth of clothing and quite frankly those bags are huge and you can find yourself bringing stuff you probably don't need, which leads to the overweight situation...

ME Weight Policies
1 bag - up to 50 pounds - no additional charge
1 bag - 51 to 70 pounds - $25
1 bag - 71 to 100 pounds - $50

These are prices each way.

I am planning a trip in DEC and am planning on each person having one carryon sized bag (which we will probably check anyway) in addition we will have one 24" suitcase for a "community bag". Just my $0.02

Enjoy flying, ME is a great airline. I flew them once to NYC and had a great experience.

By ME, I meant Magical Express. We are flying Delta. Not sure yet what we'll do about the luggage but DH liked the idea about the 29" too. Only worry is weight. I don't want to have to pay an extra charge. :sad2: I don't overpack ; therefore neither the kids; but DH is a differant story ;)
