Has anyone ever slept 5 in a room at the Poly?
If so, what did you do with all of the bags?

Is there any storage space under the beds?

TIA:thumbsup2

When our children were growing up, we were always a family of 5. With the old closets, there was plenty of room to store the luggage. Unfortunately the new closets offer much less storage space. We've managed for four now but find it easiest to store most bags in the rental car.

If you won't have a car, I think bell services will store them for you. I know they've stored golf clubs in the past.

We've stayed with 5 at the Poly twice, and we're doing it again this August. The beds do not have room for luggage underneath them. However, we used the closets and in the corners of the room. There's a somewhat empty spot between the dresser area and the closet where you can fit a couple of suitcases. I also put smaller suitcases inside larger ones to save space.

We also liked the larger rooms in the newer longhouses. The extra couple of feet in length gives you quite a bit extra space if you've got 5 of you, and to us, walking a bit longer to the GCH is a fair price to pay for the bigger room and the extra chair it includes.

We are a family of 5 also and stay often at the Poly.. We utilize the closet space as well as anywhere else it will be out of the way. Never has been a problem yet and we have 3 dd's. The rooms are large enough that you can find quite a bit of space.

We stayed five in a room at the Poly a while back (three adults, two kids). We stored our luggage in the closet, and beside the beds. I seem to remember putting some stuff under the day bed as well.

We brought lots of food and I still found plenty of room for 3 children and a 6 night stay. The closets do hold a lot hanging, if you transfer most clothes to hangers. There was room for I think 2 of the largest bags that airlines will carry side by side between the desk and the closet area, with some smaller bags in front and still not cluttering the walking area. There was also room between the bed and the bathroom wall, which is space you wouldn't use anyway. There is also plenty of room over on the other side of the beds by the patio doors, but you may want to sit and eat in this area, so you may not want the clutter over there. I doubt you will have trouble finding space.

We put our suitcases (stacking some inside others) in the space between the closet and the desk. We put a few suitcases in the closet (the smaller ones) and one or two under the desk as we didn't use that much. My godsister put one of her suitcases in the space between the chest of drawers and the daybed.

Thanks everyone for your ideas on where to store my suitcases. This'll be my 1st time at the Poly, and I am so excited.

Tam1067, are the newer longhouses considered standard rooms?

You'll have plenty of room to store suitcases in a room at the Polynesian. Again, between the desk and closet is an ideal space!

The newer longhouses have the same price, etc., as a room in one of the older ones. You are not guaranteed a room in a new longhouse, but you will probably have better luck if you request it on your reservation. :)

Which ones are the newer ones again?

Tahiti, Tokelau, and Rapa Nui all have the larger rooms at 476 sq. ft. rather than 415 sq. ft. in the other longhouses. :)

Tokelau, Tahiti and Rapa Nui. The first two are very large longhouses so you have a decent chance of getting those if you do request them although one side of Tahiti is lagoon/MK view.

The old daybeds did have space under them. As best I recall, the new ones don't.

The beds used to be on platforms so no room under those although over the years we did get an odd room with a regular bed frame.... I think as the platforms wore out. Can't remember if the new ones have regular frames but I think so.

If you don't mind luggage out in sight, as everyone has said the rooms are quite large and there are many places to stick them.

I can't stand luggage in view and miss the old commodious closets although the new closet systems are pretty.

We took 2 suitcases, one large duffle and another empty to bring back goodies. I zip locked each outfit for each day and squeezed out the air. I got much more in the suitcases and we were there 9 nights. We put them in the corner of the room behing the chair. The bags of clothes went in the dresser. Each person had their own and there were no question about clothes on any given days. Gave kids independence in the morning and made for quick get aways, lol.

I did the individual bags for each of our sons' outfits 20 plus years ago when they were small. It was great for them.:thumbsup2

We stayed in Tokelau. My three grown daughters, 3.5 year old GD, and 1 year old grandson and I fit quite well. The room was BIG! We stored our suitcases inside each other, and tucked some in between the bed and wall and we did just fine.

We stayed at the Poly in October & we're a family of 5. Our room had a connecting door to the next room so when we had emptied our suitcases I put the smaller suitcases in the bigger suitcases - we just put them against the connecting door which was located to the right of the dresser. We stayed in Tokelau & we had plenty of space. As others have posted there are a few other areas to store stuff - we stored the box I sent between the patio door and the daybed. The crib box and stroller and wrapping went on the left side of the beds. Carry ons went in the closet. Theres plenty of room - no worries.;)

Have a nice trip.
