Luggage Name Tags

I just received my travel packet in the mail and have a weird question. I was going to fill out all my information on my luggage tags and noticed that you can not remove the card from the luggage tag itself. Am I suppose to write directly on it or what? The surface seems to smooth to write on and it would just rub off easy.

I used a thin Sharpie to fill out my address info on it and it seems fine
