Luggage lock question

We use twist ties and twist them together the length of the tie. IMO anything that makes it more difficult to get into luggage will discourage most of the "casual" theft. However if you must pack valuables of any kind in checked luggage I'd assume that NOTHING will keep it completely safe and hope for the best....

for those of you thinking of zip ties, twist lock from the supermarket works just as well. Remember that you need something to open the zip lock once you get to your room - trying to get it open at 2am with no sharp object is not fun, believe me............

And I too just use the twist tie to keep the zipper closed, not as any form of theft deterrent - a lock is false security in my opinion...
