I have lots of mismatched luggage that has really had it. I'm looking for large suitcases(26" or so) that will last a while. I find that the airlines really beat up on them. I don't mind paying more for quality pieces that will last.

Anyone have ideas for great places to purchase luggage? Any suggestions on brands or styles that have been successful for you?

Thanks,
Joanne

We bought a set of American Tourister for our first Disney vacation three years ago and it still looks brand new.

We got a great deal on e-bags I couldn't pass up ~ a large, medium and small (carry-on size) suitcase (all with rolling wheels) and a small carry-on/toiletry bag ~ all for $120.

It's great quality and we use them frequently (at least a couple times a month).

Check on e-bags for deals and see if you can find anything. :) I haven't been on there much because I don't need any new luggage, but maybe you'll get lucky. :goodvibes

I've actually stopped using traditional luggage for airline travel because the stuff was just too heavy and costing me extra. I purchased a 29" rolling duffel bag in bright orange that I now use anytime I fly. It's never been over the limit and I can fit so much more in it than I could in my old suitcases. And because it's a duffel, it's a lighter fabric and doesn't have all the heavy metal pieces that a traditional suitcase has.

Thanks for the help, everyone! Great idea on the duffel. I think I might go that route because the airlines just throw luggage and all of the pieces inside my old suitcase are cracking and breaking. A duffel is soft and might be more durable. My only concern would be tearing. Anyone have a problem with this?

I highly recommend the eBags brand of luggage. I have 2 of the Mother Lode Jr. duffels (25"?), and they're fabulous. So far, they've been through the airline/cruise conveyers 14 times, and they still look brand new. My previous luggage was destroyed after the first trip! :sad2:

They have a lifetime warranty, but I doubt I'll ever need it.

There's a larger size as well (29"?), but I was afraid I'd pack to much in those and go over the 50 lb rule. :confused3 It isn't a "floppy" duffel...it has stiffer sides and a bottom.

They're a little pricey compared to your typical Walmart luggage...but I'm amazed at how durable they are. Do an internet search and you can always find a coupon code for eBags.

They recently came out with an updated version of the Mother Lode bag. You might still be able to find the old style on discount.
