Help!!

I need luggage advice and I went to TJMaxx and looked at luggage. I looked at a Samsonite with two big wheels in the back, a Samsonite with 4 spinner 360 degree wheels, a Samsonite with 8 spinner wheels, and it Moscow luggage with 8 spinner wheels.

I haven't heard of it luggage but I liked it because it was colorful. Does anyone have reviews of it luggage?

Also are the spinner wheels more breakable? This will be my checked luggage so the workers will be tossing it around and I hate to buy something that is more easily breakable.

Then I went to Kohls and find an American tourister Out4Fun luggage that I really liked!

anyone have any recommendations? Thank you in advance.

We have three samsonite 360 spinners in my family. We love how light they are and easy to maneuver through airports. The two largest have been on three major trips and are showing some wear . They really take a beating when you fly. However, nothing wrong with the wheels.

Thank you! Are they 8 wheel spinners or just 4?

I love our Heys suitcases. Super light and hard sided. We got the florescent orange ones. They are ugly as heck, but easy to pick out at baggage claim.

Spinner wheels are great. If it has a shiny coating beware it will get scratched. I have had Heys, Samsonite, IT, and a few others. My Mickey Heys is great. I had another Heys and it tore. The wheels extended out from the case and I think they caught it on something. My It is a 360degree and I have had no problems.

When looking for luggage check the denier count. The higher the count the strong the material is. You will find this info on the tag. Usually want anything above 600.

Also watch the measurements. The airlines have restrictions on how big the luggage can be and if it is too big you will have to pay a surcharge fee because it too big. And if your luggage is too big that mean you can put more in it so there is a chance its over weight so you will have to pay yet another fee for over weight along with over sized.

I know a lot of people posted on here that they got a great deal at TJMaxx on the Disney Mickey black and white luggage only to find out that piece of luggage was over sized and they had to pay the over sized fee on their flight to Disney and then again on their way home. So be careful.

REally?? Good information. I was going to go for the biggest suitcase which is 29 inches. It weighs 11 lbs. Do you think that is too big?

I have 2 big bags that are 29 or 30" that I got from Lands' End years ago. They are so big that it's easy to go overweight with them. I don't regret buying them as they are amazing quality, nylon not polyester, & we take several trips per year and have lasted probably 10+ yrs. I try to put shoes in a smaller carry on size bag instead of the big bags since they are the heaviest items we pack. I try to make the big bags "clothes only".
I would spend the $ for a good luggage scale. Sure it's possible to weigh your bag with a bathroom scale when leaving but packing to go home is not so easy. I find that the scale saves me from last minute repacking in the airport. This is the one I have.

I have 2 of the eBags Mother Lode etech 25" bags and really like them. They are not the biggest ones available though as I'm pretty sure those would exceed the 50 lb weight limit when full. They hold a lot, plenty of organizing features which I love, and have been holding up great so far. (DH travels a lot for work, plus our family trips a couple times a year)

Well, I would never buy a 29" suitcase b/c it is way too easy to overpack and many overseas carriers consider it to be oversized, which adds a lot to your flight. When we lived in Europe and traveled back and forth twice a year, we had a 3 - 26" cases for the 4 of us, plus 2- 22" (and had problems with KLM carrying on that size). A 20" rollaboard is better for non-US carriers.

That said, if you plan to travel mostly by car, 29" suitcases are just fine, provided they fit in your trunk.

Our best buy luggage-wise, has been a set of 3 High Sierra rolling duffels. They held a lot, were impossible to overpack (though at that point, dh had a limit of 70# due to his FF status), and have been through the truly horrible treatment of Egyptian baggage handlers with zero problems. That's what we use for family travel. Ours is a fairly ugly olive green, and it is super easy to spot on the carousel. We use different colored locks and handle covers to designate whose clothing is in each bag.

Here is the current version of what we have: http://www.campmor.com/high-sierra-...l?source=CI&ci_sku=60822RED&ci_gpa=pla&ci_kw=

Dh still travels overseas for business multiple times a year and swears by his very pricey Victorinox luggage. Their carry-ons are perfectly sized for European carriers and they take a lot of punishment (which they should for the price). He's been using them for 5 yrs and they still look great.

I can't give you any advice on the spinners v. inline wheels, except to caution that you have to include the wheels in your luggage dimensions, and that cuts down on how much room you have in your luggage to pack. It's not as much of a concern for checked bags unless you are on a non-US carrier, so this may never be an issue for you. We make sure to consider it b/c of dh's job. Also, check online for brand reviews. Cheaper luggage isn't cheaper if you have to replace it every two years. Learned that the hard way.

I have to mention how wonderful Eagle Creek luggage is. Ours has well over a million miles on it. They are expensive to buy, but they have a lifetime warranty. If they do wear or if something on it breaks, I just mail them in to Eagle Creek for a free repair. If they can't repair it, they will replace it with a similar bag.

We have one wheeled duffle with well over 2 million miles on it. Their wheel system is well made. The bag has seen a lot of abuse by the airlines but is still in great shape.

If you want a bag that will last a lifetime, look at Eagle Creek. REI has some in stock and they have a 20% off sale a few times a year.

I bought their green bags and there is never anything like them so they are easy to see.

We have never had one stolen. Since they don't have a fancy name or look like something rich people would carry, they don't draw the attention of theives. When carrying big dollars in electronics that I do not want to loose, having a bag that does not draw attention is worth a lot to me.

Most luggage has three sizes. I get the smaller one for carry on or shorter trips. The medium size for longer. I never get the big one since it could go over weight very quickly. My medium bag as two extra zippers given an inch or 2 per zipper expansion. As the medium size, no expansion, I can still use as a carry-on. The brand is "IT" and I got at Marshalls. TJMaxx also carries the same luggage.

I love our Heys suitcases. Super light and hard sided. We got the florescent orange ones. They are ugly as heck, but easy to pick out at baggage claim.

Same here. Mine are the Heys Exotic black and white plaid. They are light, super easy to maneuver in the airport, and so easy to spot at baggage claim. They have a few scratches on them, but still look nice and are still going strong. I love my spinners. I also have the Vera Bradley 22" carry on spinner, but am sorry I purchased it. It's pretty, but too big outside and too small inside. That thing doesn't hold near as much at my Heys carryon, but looks bigger on the outside.

I picked my Heys hardsided up at Marshalls several years ago, so didn't pay the high price most places listed them for. In fact, I bought the small carry on for like $69.00 and the middle size one for $79.00. They had the large one too, but it was too big for a checked bag for most airlines, so I didn't bother getting it. Here's the ones I'm talking about: http://www.overstock.com/Luggage-Ba...side-Spinner-Luggage-Set/3444035/product.html

I have a suitcase question you might be able to help me with, our biggest suit case (Disney style) lost its wheel so I'm shopping. I would like to get a 2 piece where one is a rolling bag and the other is a square type bag with a panel that can fit over the handle of the rolling bag. Does anyone know what that is called and how I would search for it?

I too have the 4 wheel spinners. It is a Heys 3 piece set, pink with white polka dots that reminds me of Minnie, and I love them. I've only taken the 2 big ones on a trip. How I solve the weight problem is I pack all the light things in the largest suitcase, and all the heavier things in the medium size suitase. It is amazing how much I can cram into them without going overweight. My only regret is not buying a darker colour since the lighter colour gets black scuff marks from travel, but they are easily cleaned. They have been on 2 annual trips to WDW and look great.

I started out with a Samsonite Oyster hard sided suicase. It stood up something wonderful, but it only had 2 wheels and travel was exhausting because I had to lift up one end and drag it through the airport. I always packed it to just under the weight limit. I've since gotten the Heys spinners and haven't looked back.

Are you talking about a personal item that has a 'trolley sleeve' on the back that slips over the handle of the carry on? In additon to my Heys and Vera Bradely bags, I also have a Kipling Teagan and a Kipling Sherpa that I picked up at the Kipling Outlet over at the Orlando Outlets when we were down there last Oct. The Sherpa bag has a sleeve on the back that just fits over the handle of the Teagan.

The outlet mall in Orlando had them for whole lot cheaper though.

For that matter Vera Bradley's 'new' style of Weekender also has a trolley sleeve on the back that just slides over the handle of a carry on.

Thats what I was looking for! So its called a "trolley sleeve"! I had bought a set at Wal_Mart many many years ago that had a bag like this and we absolutely loved the functionality. It will be perfect for keeping up with a carry on bag and my son with autism all at the same time :)

My world changed when I went from a two-wheeler to a set of spinner-type bags.

I can now zoom through the airport with two suitcases and a purse on one suitcase and my carry-on on the other. SO much easier!

If you pack lighter than me, I would imagine just having one spinner bag would be a breeze.

I could never go back to the standard two-wheelie. How on earth did I travel with handheld luggage in the 80's????
