We leave in 89 days for our honeymoon!!! we really want to try a luau but there are so many to choose from. I know Aulani just opened one last month but has anyone tried it? Is it to "touristy" or is it authentic.

I wouldn't mind going off property to another luau if anyone wants to recommend one :)

All luaus will be touristy to some degree. The most "authentic" ones I've heard of are at the Polynesian Cultural Center, but they don't serve alcohol, or the Old Lahaina Luau but that's on Maui. For convenience sake, I would either do the one at Aulani or the one walking distance at Paradise Cove.

We were just there last week. We ended up doing Germaine's Luau, which is a few miles down the road. I had actually been to it way back in 1993 on a high school field trip, and I heard better overall things about it than Paradise Cove. Aulani's luau hadn't been announced when we bought tickets to it, and we decided to keep them since it's tried and true. We bought their Plumeria package which was their top of the line ticket: special bar so you don't have to wait in line, three alcoholic drinks included per adult (though they were small!), front row seats, and table service (they brought the food rather than having to go to the buffet). It was really fun and both our kids absolutely loved it. Cheesy, yes, but any luau is. I'd recommend it if you have a car!
