My 6yo DD thinks she is LILO.
We are going in May and I wanted to go to the Poly Luau show? Will she like this? I was wondering if anyone has gone recently and have their children liked it? All opinions good and bad please.

Thanks - Tracy

We went last year in late May, so I haven't seen the new show but I can tell you that my DD's loved the old show. We had seen it the year before and they considered this a "must do" when we went back. They were 8 & 12 at the time. They were mesmerized by the dancers & the fire show, from what I've heard these are still part of the show.

We did the Luau a few years ago. We enjoyed it but probably won't take DD's back for a while. We enjoyed the Hoop Dee Doo more for the food & thought it was a little more of an upbeat show.

The Luau was fun, but more laid back, although there was interaction with children that they enjoyed.

I would give it a try & make your own opinion.

I'm sure the OP really is more interested in the NEW Luau show that just began. Features music from Lilo and Stitch and the characters. Probably not alot of folks on the board that have gone to the new show yet. We did the OLD show when my grandson was 6 and he was not impressed with the show or the dancers, but did like the fire dancer. Did not like the food, but they brought out some mac & cheese, expensive mac & cheese, since that is all he ate.

Oh - haven't been to the new one, so can't give an opinion on that. :(

N2MM-
When I spoke to the CM to make my ressie @ the poly show, she would not say "it was a Lilo & Stitch" show, she would only say that it was new with different music, I got the feeling that it was geared more towards L&S.

If anyone has been recently I would love the 411!!

Thanks!!

A pal of mine just returned from a visit and they did the new Luau. Her kids are 8, 6 and 3 and they loved it. Debbie says the server was great and brought lots of kids' food selections to their table -- I think she mentioned macaroni and cheese plus chicken nuggets -- and she said her kids actually ate some of the "real" food. She mentioned that the songs from "Lilo and Stitch" were performed and there is a Lilo-type storyline going on. But the favorite of the kids was the fire-dancer near the end. Debbie says her kids SWORE he was David from the movie. Forget that David is an ANIMATED character, she said they KNEW it was him... They were also much impressed with the volcano dessert. Sounds like fun, huh? We are just back and simply did not have time to do the luau last-minute, but next visit I think we'll try it!

Have fun!

Thanks Colleen!!- I was hoping someone was going to say that!! My DD is going to be very excited!!! (so am I):bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

We just went in early March and my almost 6 yr old daughter seemed Bored and tired at the 8-10:15 show....if I were to do it again I'd opt for the early show at 5:15......she was wiped by 9 at the show.........not much from Lilo is in it just one or 2 songs....food was bland at best..and she just had the usual disney chicken fingers.......kind of $$$ for that .....I wouldn't do it again....Hoop De Doo was MUCH better for the same $$$

I noticed that there is an early and late show for this. Do you think it would be better in dusk/dark or daylight? The 5ish show would still be light out. I would like to take my family to this as well, just wondering.

kilee - We went at dusk & it was nice. It was just starting to get dark when the show started & then it was dark when the did the fire tricks part of the show.

P.S. I from Buffalo also - I live right in Lancaster. :D

I just was at the Luau with my DD6 on March 28th. She loved it. She wore her grass skirt and leae and head band. There are tables that are at the ground level and then there are more tables behind a railing a little further back. We went to the 5:15 show and were lucky to get a table right up front and to the left of the stage. The food was ok, appetizers of fresh pineapple and an orange vinagarette salad, then baked chicken, BBQ ribs, steamed vegetables and rice. They also serve a baked alaska that they make a big production over, carrying them to each table with a smoking volcano. There is also unlimited beer and wine and non-alcoholic drinks. They give you a leae upon entry.
When you sit down, you have the appetizers. Then they do a little show and bring the kids on stage and they teach them the hula. That show starts off with the Hawaiian roller coaster ride song. After that comes the entrees. After you eat, they have more show and another chance for the kids to get involved. Then the baked alaska and the finalle. The finalle is demonstrations of different pacific island dances, with the fire dancer at the end. By the time it was over, my DD6 was pooped. It started off with the sun being up, and ended in darkness. Since you have a 6 year old, I'd recommend the early show, unless you aren't doing any of the theme parks before then.

Thanks MichiganDiver...but i just cancelled our ressie's. There is so much that we want to do... and something had to be cut. This was the first thing on the chopping block. I am glad your DD like it. It sounds like my DD would be doing the same thing...only good thing is I still have my res at O'hana's.
