We are traveling with friends in February. They want to do the Luau show at the Poly. What are the chances this will be cancelled? We eat at Kona frequently and many times I have seen it cancelled due to rain or cold. How warm does it have to be for the show to be preformed? I don't want to see them end up without a dinner reservation. Thanks!

I have seen cited for cancellation is 40 degrees. Also if it is raining fairly hard they will cancel.

Can't give you an answer concerning the cold, but I can about the rain. We went last month, and it rained a lot the day we had our Luau ADR. As it got closer to our ADR time, we called the reservation line and asked if it were going to be cancelled due to rain. It wasn't. The seating is under a covered pavillion and a lot of the area where the performers perform is covered, so I think it would have to be thunder and lightning involved before they would cancel the show. I may be wrong, but the fire dancer danced with fire in pouring rain (and looked like he was enjoying it, too.)

Not that it's really a way to judge, but water parks, I think, close if the temp is below 50. Call and inquire what the conditions are for closure. If it seems like conditions are threatening closure, call the reservation line and ask before you go over there.

Hope this helps.

It's not really possible to have a forecast in July for February, but in Orlando winter weather is all over the map. It can be very warm, or very cold. I don't know if there is a specific forecasted temperature they use to cancel, but they will cancel the show if it is too cold to be comfortable for the audience or the performers. There may be a day or so notice, or they may get no notice until they arrive for the performance - depends on how far ahead of time the decision was made to cancel.

Given the last few years, there is a fairly good chance of cancellation. I think if the the tempature falls below 50 degrees they cancel.

I'll probably get flamed for saying this, but what I would do is make an ADR at another restaurant on the night you want to attend the Luau. That way you have a backup plan in case the show is cancelled.
