Right now we are scheduled for RPR from June 30 - July 5. I just found out we will probably have to cut it down from 5 nights to 4. Here's my problem...we were planning on attending the Wantilan Luau Saturday night and the 4th of July celebration Wednesday night. I'm going to have to pick which one we would rather do so I know which night to eliminate. I really don't know which to pick. We have a 12 year old son and not sure which he would enjoy more either. What would you do?

I want to try the Luau, my DS is 14 and is rolling his eyes @ the thought.

DH, a meat & baked potato kind of guy, is worried he won't have anything to eat besides chicken.

They make planning difficult lol.

good luck on your decision

My DH is the exact same way but he loves ribs and I think I saw a menu that says they have spareribs so figured he'd survive.

My son LOVED the Lion King show at Animal Kingdom and was totally enthralled when the fire thrower/eater was on stage so I'm thinking he would really enjoy the Luau, although not sure how well the hula dancers will go over!

We did the Luau last December and my 8 year old son loved it. The dancers are VERY young and VERY cute! The food was great!

I am hoping to make reservations for our stay in July for the Luau, we stayed at RPR last year but Did not go to it so hopefully will get this year.
At the RPR they do the Torch Lighting Ceremony at the Pool , where they get the kids up to dance, like dsmom says they are very young and extremely cute [looking over shoulder to make sure DW is not reading  ]
Here is a pic of the torch lighting, thought i had more ,but it must be on tape

We saw the torch lighting every night we were there in Dec.- it was fun also. Anyone needs to see the menu from the luau I saved it from our visit.

I would love to see the menu if it's not too much problem to post it. Besides hula dancers do they also have fire throwers?

They have a good show- hula dancers, fire twirlers, etc. It is first come first serve so get there early for a good seat.

neat pic!
Is it safe to assume the ceremony is @ dusk or shortly before? How long does it last?

i would love to also know how long it lasts. we are staying at PBH, but i though it would be fun to try and go this year. Our party is mosly adults (with a one yr old) - do you think that we would enjoy it?

i was thinking if we did not have time we could always do the one at the poly during a westgate day? has anyone ever compared the two?

We will be there the exact same time that you are going to be there.:lmao:

I have done both shows and the one at RPR(in my opinion only!) is much better. The food is MUCH better also. It starts at 6p.m. and runs through 8:30. Also- we were there in Dec. and they had the torch lighting ceremony every night we were there.
