Has anyone had a call from a company saying that if your CC are in good standing, not maxed out, etc that you can have your interest rates lowered? I keep getting this call and while I would love for my interest rates to be lowered is this for real? I asked how come they can do it and I can not and the response I got was bc we as the general public would only get customer service and they do not have the authorization to lower interest rates.

What do you all think? TIA

We were getting messages like that all the time on our answering machine, I just delete them, they didn't seem to be CC specific or even ask for anyone by name. I don't think it is legit. I delete it without even completely listening to the message.

I don't answer those calls, been getting them on occasion a couple months now . . .it is coming from Oregon I believe, area code 503 . . .SCAM . . .

I got that call too but mine was from florida because it was a 407 area code -- I was hoping for some reason Disney was calling me :rotfl:

I was wondering if it was real too, but I doubt it. I figured I could just call my credit card company directly and ask them so that way I don't talk to possible scammers.

I got about my 10th one yesterday. I had pushed the key to be removed from their list the night before and got another one yesterday. I let the call go through to a person and said, "you called me yesterday and I asked to be..." Click. Yep, they hung up on me. I called the number back from my CID and got a message that if you get a call from this number it's a scam. Weird, weird, weird. I wonder if that is their way to get around the do not call situation. If you call them back they pretend they didn't call you.

You can contact your CC company(s) on your own and ask that it be lowered, I wouldn't give info out over the phone to someone that calls to offer it though. Even if they claim to be from your CC company there isn't any way to really know for sure.

I get at least two calls a week from these folks - yes, they are indeed a scam. They use basically the same recording, but constantly change (or at least use many different) phone numbers (I have report them on the do-not-call site, but since they keep changing numbers it is hard to get them).

DO NOT give out any info to a caller unless you have initiated the call.
