My husband has had some medical issues and now needs to be on a low sodium diet....just wondering how accomodating the restaurants will be. I know it shouldnt be a problem at the table service restaurants but I dont know how it will be at the quick service spots.

If anyone has had experience with getting low salt meals, please give me some feedback...I am hoping the food will be just as delicious for him as our meals will be.

Thanks in advance

I would avoid all buffets because they are sooo salty it is ridiculous

Quick service may be somewhat of an issue, since a lot of things are pre-made.

However, they have been getting better about offering some alternatives. At POR, the quick service offers a couple of sandwiches, and a make-your-own pasta and make-your-own salad, so you have some control over those kinds of things.

Thanks everyone....hoping mostly everything will taste almost as near as yummy as it normally does!!

My Mother is on a very low sodium diet. For table service we tell the server and they usually have the chef speak to us and will make adjustments. There are some things that are preseasoned or marinated so he may have to adjust his choices. For CS it is harder. We ask for fries with no salt. It usually takes a little longer, as they make them separately. HTH :)

yes it does help and thank you. I figured the counter service would be more of a problem then table services - he will just have to have salads with oil & vinegar etc - and fries with no salt is an excellent idea, I never thought of that. He is on a 1500 mg a day salt restriction....hopefully it wont be forever.

I was on a similar salt restriction during two WDW trips and all of the signature chefs were all incredibly helpful. Some of the best WDW food I've ever had!

For CS, it's much harder. We had a car so we made a grocery run and got low sodium sandwich and low salt corn tortilla wraps -- the same stuff I would eat at home, and that was easy to pack for the parks for daytime food. A couple cans of low sodium Bumble Bee tuna and low sodium peanut butter basically covered it.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

For QS if you need something special beyond just making a hamburger or fries without being salted you do better going to resort QS locations because they have kitchens and extra ingredients to work with so more flexibility. Sunshine Seasons at Epcot also has a real kitchen and ingredients so they are able to do a a few different dishes special order.

Thank you for the great ideas, will definetly have to pack some low sodium stuff for lunches.

Thank you!!! We had already planned to eat at Sunshine seasons so I am happy that they will be able to possibly do a special lunch order for him.
