Does anyone know of anything i can take on rides like pirates of the carribean or navi river journey that will help my grandmother sit higher then usual? She has bad knees and its hard for her to get up from a low seating position. Has anyone dealt with this problem before?

I haven’t dealt with this, but can see how it could be difficult to get up from some rides. Maybe a draw string back back with a folded towel in it? Easy enough to carry around and might be just enough to make her comfortable to get up and still sit safely on the ride.

You may want to check in on the disabilities board and see what suggestions people there have. It is hard for me to get out of some of those low boat rides because of my knees too. I have the same problem with a few others like test track where you have to climb up out of the ride. Luckily there are metal railings at the exit of most of them that I can pull myself out of the boat or car after the initial standing up. Sometimes to stand up I lean back against the back of the seat and push myself up or lean way forward while pulling on the seat in front of me. Usually we strategically place a family member in the ride so they exit before me and can give me a hand getting out. I have never thought of sitting on something to make me up higher. It makes sense though, like a raised toilet seat. I'm just not sure you could get enough height to make a difference. I hope you have a great time!

I do not think you will be able to use anything on seat to raise her as there is no way to attach to seat safely. should say I also have one bad knee

I have one bad knee and one tired knee from being the one I rely on! If sitting that low in the bench is a problem then getting out will be a problem. If a ride exits to the right then I have to turn around towards the back, use the rail to step up onto the seat with my good knee, turn around and position myself to step off with my bad knee. The CM usually look at me like I'm crazy and it's embarrassing to be holding up the boat! I hope you find an answer, I remember being in the front at Living with the Land and that was much easier.

You may want to consider a gait belt. It goes around the waist. You could use it for leverage to get her up.

If there are two of you then grandma should be in the middle. Then you can help her in and out of a ride whatever direction you need to do it.
