Low rise jeans are not for everyone!

I don't mind low rise jeans, but I can't wear ultra low rise. What I would like to see are tops and shirts where the hem is actually long enough to compensate! It's hard to find tunic length shirts.

And people wonder why girls are becoming anorexic and bulimic younger and younger these days. :guilty:

Alright, what on earth is a muffin top???

Its when someone wears low rise jeans and their fat rolls kind roll out over the top of them, kinda like the tops of muffins do in a muffin pan.

Bite your tongue. I can finally find jeans that fit. I have a tiny waist and an "ample" bottom, so in the past to fit my butt and thighs meant I had to have a gaping waist. I don't have that problem anymore. Low rise jeans are the best thing EVER (at least for me).

Same here. I have a thin waist, but more than my share of hips. Jeans that go to my waist end up making me look like I have a larger stomach because of all the extra fabric.

Well I have to wear mom jeans, because I have a belly now where I never used to have that problem. I used to be fine if I got "relaxed" jeans because my problem area was my thighs. Now that I'm a misses 14/16 if I try to wear the jeans that snap on the belly, they won't snap unless I go up another size, which I will not do. I'd rather wear "mom" jeans (and believe me, the minute I get home my jeans go on) than gross people out with fat blooping out. And yes, IMHO it is gross. I think some of these girls with issues dressing that way have moms that just give them $ to go shop and don't police how they look when they leave the house. I used to see a lot of it at my school before they cracked down on the dress code.
BTW my 13 year old wears size 3 jeans and a size 38 bra. WAAAY out of proportion and believe me, not from my side of the family. I guess she is still considered a "tween" but she was out of kids 14/16 several bra sizes ago, so the cute little girl fashioin days are long gone. The bagger at the store the other day asked her if she was a junior--she's in 8th grade!

I feel you. My 16 yr old is 5'3" and wears a 38DD! Poor thing. She plays varsity hockey, and let me tell you, she has to strap those things down! I always notice grown men looking at her in a way that makes me uncomfortable, but what can I do? She dresses very modestly and in no way does she flaunt herself, but that kind of figure is hard to downplay.

My SIL likes to say"Just because they make it in your size DOES NOT mean you should wear it."

:rotfl2: This is our code phrase when out and about for "OMG check that out!"

Thats like a girl in my school, she is a BB and about 5'3 and only 12.

Funny so many of you like the low-rise jeans because they fit better on smaller waisted/larger hipped women. I like the fit because I’m just the opposite: small hips and not-so-small waist. High-waisted jeans are either too tight on my waist or too loose on my hips. I guess low-rise pants work well for people who don’t have what the designers consider the average waist-to-hip ratio.

I’m sometimes envious of the confidence so many of these young girls possess. I would have never had the guts to wear tight clothes, especially if there was fat hanging over my pants! My teenage niece has a very large chest and I was shocked at first at how tight she wears her tops, but if she feels comfortable I guess that’s all that matters. I had the same “problem” as she does and all I wanted to do as a teenager was hide them the best I could!

BUT, I just don’t understand why skinny girls wear those pants so tight that even THEY have fat hanging over. The can wear almost anything and look good, but they choose to wear the one thing that makes them look fat. I just don’t get it and I really don’t think it’s attractive. But then again there’s not too much I do get about teenagers!

I, too, agree that the ultra low rise jeans have got to go. I've had alot of luck lately though. Around here, I've found jeans in both Express and The Limited that fit really nice. They are both low rise, but not too low, and fit great. Their jeans are a little high priced, but they're a good quality and even my mother (who is a size 14) has found a pair of jeans from in The Limited that she loves and that fit beautifully.

As for kids, try Aeropostale. :) My little sister is a size 13/14 and she's found jeans in there that work perfectly for her body type. They sit just below her belly button and look fantastic on. Plus, they're reasonably priced. Actually, Aeropostale has alot of very age appropriate clothes for preteens/teens.

Amen! It used to cost me a fortune to find pants that would fit my waist and butt. Now I can pick up a pair of $15 low rise pants at old navy and they'll fit perfectly! I have a pair of ultra low risers that look great, I just wear them with a long sweater.

When DD15 and I go shopping, and see Muffin Tops.............our code is
"too fat for that", and we both know what we mean. She is a little chunky, and would NEVER wear something exposing her belly. Sadly, some people don't know what full length mirrors are for. :confused3

Too all the ladies who can wear low rise! Photos please!!!! :teeth:

Why? So I can prove I'm not a "muffin top?" :teeth: I'm a size 8, teeny waist, with a healthy bottom. My jeans rest under the belly button and comfortably on my hip bones. I don't have "overage" but will wear tops that cover anyways. I finally can have jeans that fit! I hated having to buy jeans that were much too large in the waist just so my butt could fit in.

Even with low rise jeans I still get "gap butt" which is the term my mom and I made up for the gap that pants make in the back. I have a nice sized butt and wider hips and I have issues finding pants that cover everything that I can still pull up. Every day I am amazed what people my age wear around the college campus.

Not all guys think it is attractive: Late one Saturday night (3am or so), we were out getting food and this girl was sitting with people on a barstool with her entire (and I mean entire) hot pink thong hanging out the back of her pants. The guys I was with dared this other guy to go up there and tell her that she should adjust herself because her underware was showing. Turns out her boyfriend was standing next to her and we wound up walking out of there rather quickly. :rotfl2: I guess he didnt like the fact that the other guys were looking :confused3 Why walk around like that???

Yes I know he was just joking. But there's your answer right there. It's because they think it's what guys want to see them in. As sad as that is.

Being someone who is also plus size I would just like to add my two cents. It's very hard to find clothes that not only fit right, but look good on you, and that you like. I'm not going to buy something that makes me look like a one room school teacher. I want to look good and feel good about how I feel. If i'm in something that I don't like i'm not going to feel good about how I look when I walk about the door. And when I feel good about how I look it shows. I'd rather show that then try to hide myself.

ITA. We were just subjected to this last month at California Grill. Not a teen either, but a Mom with her DH & their infant, sitting at the table in front of me. The backs of the chairs aren't solid, and the Mom's back was facing me, so everytime I looked up from my plate, there was this big ole crack in my face. Ugh. At least she had the decency to leave before our dessert arrived. :)

I personally LOVE low rise jeans. I have always had a way smaller waist than hips and have Brazilian-booty so when these came into style I made a happy dance to finally decrease the butt-gap. However, unlike miffin-girl, i buy my right size because I (being my own worst critic) do not like having rolls anywhere because they make me feel not-pretty. I also am not into the tight jean thing. And I also love the jeans with a little stretch in them.

I also recently noticed that plus sized teens/young adults are getting more options. There is a store (also a catalog) called Delias that has teen sizes to 17/18 and they have a lot of stretch stuff too and they are sized big. (I had to get a 13/14 for stuff to fit right and I am not a small girl).

And (here is me being a complete snob) whether or not you have rolls.. I don't want to see your stomach (you're not at the beach). I can't wait until the belly baring fad is completely over.
