My husband was recently diagnosed with heart issues and cholesterol/fat levels that are very high. Is it possible to eat at WDW restaurants that are low to no fat ???? We are staying at POR and Wilderness Lodge. Please, any suggestions are greatly appreciated !!

From all the posts I've read about allergies, I get the idea that the WDW kitchen staff is willing to work with all types of challenges.

I would review all the choices on Deb's site, www.allearsnet.com and then perhaps give a call to some of the restaurants and speak with the staff directly.

Anybody have first hand experience out there?

Good luck!

Thank you Penny !! I did check out AllEars and saw very little about low fat diets. It mentions here and there where to find salads (and how difficult it was to find them) and other veggies/fruit snack items. Don't think that grazing for 3 weeks will go over big with my husband. I was wondering if there are any restaurants that have a simple and plain fare. No sauces and mixed combo type of plates. We are looking for simple bare chicken and steamed veggies in an actual restaurant. We never really ate in any places other than food courts on our other visits, but this time we are going with 10 other people and would like to be able to find low fat food without it being a big attention grabbing issue for my husband - or a coronary producing meal !!
This is still very new to him !!
Thank you !!

I have a friend who's son is diabetic and they are leaving to WDW in a couple days. They were told to call all the restaurants they have PS's for in advance and let them know of the situation and they would be able to help them out, I am not sure to what degree they are talking about but it is worth a try if you have your PS's already. My guess is you will be better off going to sit down restaurants as opposed to food courts. If your husband likes fish, a nice piece of broiled fish at Artist Point or Flying Fish would be a nice choice. :cool1:

I have very high cholesterol and have to watch what I eat. It is much easier to eat at the full service resturants than the buffets or cafeteria/burger joints. If you tell the waiter about your special needs, they are more than willing to cook it as you like it, or substitue items, even if it's not on the menu. When eating elsewhere, it is hard to stick to the diet you need as you get it as they sell it with the exception of substituting carrots/grapes for fries. It will cost you more at the full service, but it is worth it as you can eat as you need to and actually enjoy it!
