We're planning our next trip - leaving the day after Christmas and returning on January 2nd.

We normally stay at the Poly - last time we did LV Concierge. We have never stayed off the monorail loop.

What should we do? Can you really downgrade after being used to a Deluxe?

I'm thinking if we do the LV Concierge, we can save on meals in the parks and such.

Help - Please!!!

If you have your heart set on Poly Concierge but want to save some $, why not go for Garden View Concierge? That would save you $130/night and you would have access to the exact same concierge services. You could also consider moving to the WL concierge which would save $235/night over Poly LV Concierge. You could also stay in a regular, non-concierge room and add the dining plan (assuming you aren't an AP holder or have a stash of old tickets or something that would keep you from booking a package) and that way you have your meals pre-paid and probably have a lower total than the concierge room total without the meal plan.

:)

Lolli -

Those are some great options - THANKS!! Staying GV Concierge might work, I just know how wonderful the view of the castle is from the room. But really, how often do you sit looking at it? Right? GV would work - still have the lounge and all. We did think about the WL concierge, but they only have double beds - DH is not happy with that.

dc - thanks for the link. Staying offsite is not an option though. We're too spoiled!! Thanks!!

We've stayed Poly LV concierge and thought we were really spolied and would never be able to do a moderate or value. We tried POFQ in January and LOVED it!! It was quiet, grounds were beautiful, it's a compact resort which is really convenient...the room was nice...overall it was a wonderful experience and we are returing to FQ in June....granted it does not compare to our castle view room at the Poly but we try not compare the two....we treat both as different experiences and appreciate each for what they are...good luck with your decision :)

I definitly think you can downgrade after staying Deluxe. My family had stayed at the Poly quite a few times (my parents favorite resort back then), but then they started trying out the moderates and values and guess what? My parents new favorite resort is the CBR! LOL Who would have thought? Now my DH and I are trying out different resorts (I've been to quite a few of them but still have a few to try out) and honestly some of my best stays were the ones at the All Stars. Have a blast and don't be afriad to downgrade! The moderates and values are great too!

We have gone from the Contemp. to moderates. We loved CBR. In fact, my husband likes it better than the CR. This year, we will try POR. My big fear was transportation, but, really, the buses were not bad at all and even if you do stay at a monorail resort, you have to bus to AK and MGM anyway.

We've gone from Deluxe to Moderate (CSR) and thought it was great! Another option might be for you to try an Epcot resort. It's wonderful to be able to walk or boat to Epcot. If you have a teacher, nurse, or gov. employee in your group you can get decent rates at Swan/Dolphin and they are are very nice resorts with an awesome pool. We love that location.

So is Poly in your budget or not? I'm confused. :)

It's really not that hard going from Deluxe to mod, although going to Value would certainly kill you. ;) I've stayed at most of the deluxes, half the mods and one value. I find that if I can't stay in a deluxe, I'll rent DVC points or pick one of the mods. I mostly just prefer the deluxes for their locations...I love being next to Epcot or MK!

Good luck with your decision!

We did think about the WL concierge, but they only have double beds - DH is not happy with that.
All Disney Deluxe resorts have Queen beds in the rooms, including WL.
