Just to be sure. I was checking for onsite rooms for a friend who is thinking of expanding a conference into a week long vacation. I am checking room only (no discount) and there really are only a few deluxe and CSR showing for dec 2-9th. Does that sound right? It shows nothing for any of the values or mods (besides CSR). Their conference rates for hotels around the convention center weren't super impressive so they thought maybe they would stay onsite instead but that isn't looking great.

A DVC rental would be pretty lucky to find on one of the rental sites this late in the game wouldn't it? Just covering all my bases. I feel like they are about to get smacked with a pretty big sticker shock for staying onsite.

TIA, I just want to make sure I am viewing the site correctly.

DVC would be nigh impossible. First week of December is one of the most popular times of year for DVC'ers. It's popular for everyone else too LOL!

Yeah you will have a difficult time getting DVC at this stage in the game.

There's also the Pop Warner tournament, they take up space in all the values and some of the moderates.

That's Pop Warner week, as well. Back in May I requested availability through a points broker, and there was only Saratoga Springs available even back then! We ended up booking AKL, but I can imagine the values would be packed...along with some moderates. I think Caribbean Beach is another host hotel, although I could be wrong on that.

I thought the same thing about Pop Warner too. Just wanted to be sure I wasn't doing something wrong. Apparently the first week of Dec is very popular!

Im coming for two nights that week and was shocked how little was left in inventory for a short mid week stay! We are 5 for this trip so that narrowed choices down too I am sure. I booked at AKL in a one bedroom villa originally but with some persistence was able to change to a CL room at Yacht... point is keep checking! Inventory changes all the time!

The only DVC you could possibly get is a confirmed reservation that someone else can't use, but it would be what it is -- no change of dates or room type or resort. DVC is 100% that week, save maybe one day somewhere. It's not even "piece a split stay together."

The first week in December is really popular with DVCer's. The weather that time of year is fabulous, children are pretty much in school and the number of points required for accommodations is really low, thus you have high occupancy

thanks for all the input. I think staying at a convention hotel at this point may be the best idea price wise.
