I took these photo's of Loverboy at Epcot on 11/8. They came out OK considering I was limited in my shooting angle--certainly not the way I usually work! Here's a couple:

The rest of them are on my web site

The band was pretty good, I had seen them about six years ago, and they've aged a lot in six years. Mike Reno was still able to hit that high note in "Turn Me Loose", although I think ProTools helped him along a bit.

WOW! Now there's a walk down memory lane. I saw Loverboy in concert in 83 or 84. :rotfl2: They looked a "tad" bit younger then.

Thanks for sharing!

Great pics, Anne!

I'll have to email my friend Dyanna - she was dying to go see them at Epcot too...

Whoa, you can say that again! I never would've guessed who it was without you telling us! :faint:

As long as they can still put on a good show, that's all that matters.

Great shots by the way, very professional!

Mike Reno sure has put on some poundage! I remember seeing them in high school with Dokken!! Those were the days...

Not sure if I ever heard of them, probably would if I heard a song or two. But sure are great pictures, Anne. So that is the kind of results I could get if I got a good camera??? Super. Those are great photos.

Thanks everyone! And yes, Mike Reno has put on some weight.

Dan, it's not just a good camera. I took some with my prosumer grade camera as well, but haven't had a chance to look at those yet, but my guess is that they came out close enough to these that the average person wouldn't really much notice.

The difference is practice. I am a professional concert/band photographer. I do work for various record labels, management companies, and magazines. I've taken tens of thousands of photo's of bands over the past 25 years. I only in the past six months or so have begun to feel like I'm getting close to being competant. I've got two mentors, one is a photographer for Rolling Stone and Sports Illustrated, the other is a reknowned entertainment photographer. They rip my work to shreds, but that's OK, they tell me WHY it's bad. And that is what is helping me to get better :)

:rockband: Everybody's working for the weekend
Everybody wants a little romance
Everybody's goin' off the deep end
Everybody needs a second chance, oh
You want a piece of my heart
You better start from start
You wanna be in the show
Come on baby lets GO!!

I think I recognize some of those bandmates which means Loverboy may be one of those bands with more than one original member. Saw Starship... I mean Mickey Thomas... in 2004. Just Mickey, no Starship. Fun, but just not the same.

Would have loved to see Loverboy. Love their music and those are good pictures. My Mickey pictures sure are not that good.

Great pictures! The lead singer used to be such a hottie. I'd still go see them though. They had some wonderful songs.

Just checked out their site - Loverboyband.com - Turns out most of the originals are still with them. Wish I could have been there.

Yes, all original except the bass player, the original bass player died maybe half a dozen years ago in a car wreck if I recall.

The last time I saw Starship maybe seven years ago, my comment was that I've seen cover bands do Starship better than the Mickey Thomas version.

Seeing Starship 2004 do "We Built This City" and "Jane" was one thing...OK since Mickey was the singer on those songs originally.

Things got silly during the second set when they were doing "Somebody To Love". Thankfully all I saw of that was what I saw as we passed by the stage area.

I used to love Loverboy back in the 80's! Mike Reno was so hot back then. I had to do a double take at your photos to make sure that was really him... he hasn't aged well.

Actually, I think he died in the Pacific. He was sailing off the coast of San Francisco and got taken by a huge wave. The coast guard never found his body. His name was Scott Smith.

Loverboy was my first concert. The Hooters warmed up for them. How ironic that I heard "And We Danced" just yesterday.

I LOVED the Hooters, one of the nicest bunch of guys I ever worked with, hands down! Most of them are still working in the music industry in one capacity or another, and they still get together and do a show every couple of years in the Philly area.

Just returned an hour ago from watching Loverboy at EPCOT I have to say it was one of the better concerts at the Food and Wine Festival this year! The crowd was pretty reved up although those boys are no "loverboys" anymore! I doubt that they could even get one leg in those leather pants on their album cover! But they were good and entertaining and thanks for the photos I am sure mine did not turn out near as well!

Oh wow. I would have loved to have seen them. I loved their music when I was a teenager.
